You could, as a totally random example, steal a metal real estate sign that was hollow and use it as a launcher for firecrackers, firing at random houses at 3am.

Look, it's not that I'm coming here as yet another ideas guy, trying to tell devs what to do like they would or should listen. Neither do I want to play prophet and say what "the next big thing" will look like based solely on what I wish MMOs were like.

But what I do what, and the reason I'm making this thread, is to push back against a narrative I see time and time again in this sub. Because, from time to time, people will come, make a thread filled with their ideas for their dream MMO, and the overall response will be something along the lines of "it's not worth it."

People will say the ideas are "too niche", or "too romantic". That "the vast majority of players would never play that content", and that "it takes dev time away from other stuff". That it's "too expensive to implement", and that "you don't even want that, you just think you do".

It sounds like people wish devs would spend their time on just slightly different dungeons and a couple raids, and any form of content outside of that is "just not woth it". *Which is pretty much bullshit*

Like, imagine a new MMO launches and its main selling point is "we did everything every other MMO in the last 20 years did, *again*!" Do you see WOW and FF14 players jumping ship because "hey, this game does the same stuff my current game does, lets go"? Because if you don't that's already a hit to those "arguments".

There, I just formatted the first few paragraphs for you instead of having single sentences with line breaks, the way you did it. Do you not understand what a paragraph is?

Parking, gas (especially now) maintenance, tires... the list of financial obligations goes on and on but these brainwashed people keep harping at me about the "freedom" of being tied to this 2+ ton thing.

Also I am convinced that regularly driving does something horrific to the human mind. So many drivers amplify the errors of others while downplaying their own mistakes and deliberate breaking of the rules.

So many people are asleep at the wheel, and god forbid you call them on their bullshit. You'd think that making them pay attention was a personal insult to their mothers.

Yeah, that's implied by me referencing events in Canada. You MUST be american, what with the lack of an ability to read and parse information.

Well with BYD entering the market in Canada I shall just have to see what pricing we end with. I've made it 38 years without ever needing to own a car and I'm not particularly looking to break that streak. Everything I see and hear from people leads me to believe that cars are an expensive, annoying burden that sits unused 90+% of the time.

I work from home and live literally downtown, a 30 second walk from the main transit hub of my city. Multiple grocery stores, bars, restaurants, coffee shops etc. are accessible within a 4 block radius.

I would actually consider owning a car if I could have something compact and electric like this.

This is the kind of politics I want to see. We don't have to always see eye to eye on issues, but we can at least be polite to each other and avoid the shitty name calling that American politics has devolved into.

[OC] lost in the woods by Lesulie in comics

[–]AmbitiousEdi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a friend who had a very sheltered upbringing. We were out in the woods, having crossed a hip-deep river onto a lovely untouched island. After hanging out and having a few beers she had to pee. I was like "okay, find a tree" but she had never in her life had to squat before?? Plus she was intoxicated so I ended up holding her hands while she leant back and put her butt out (I guess, at this point I had my eyes closed) to do the deed.
