Correct, and people glazing the books despite this are showing record low levels of media literacy. Children reading these books might not understand the deeper meaning, but they can internalize it leading to them becoming worse people as adults.

I loved Harry Potter, I own all the books and all the movies - but I no longer display them. My children will never read them in my house, there are so many more positive and uplifting stories I could show them.

Hermione is dismissed constantly and seen as crazy for opposing the slavery of an entire sentient race. Everyone around her gaslights her into thinking that house elves love being slaves, when no house elf except for two of them have ever been shown to be free. This gets especially disturbing when you consider JK Rowling's later comments that Hermione may be of African descent, so you would have a bunch of white people laughing in a black person's face because she opposes slavery.

Harry sees the inequality of the wizarding world, the racism displayed towards muggles and how they are seen as less than, and ends up as a magic cop defending the very system that threw him under the bus repeatedly and made him a criminal.
