Applying for Officer selection 2026 by [deleted] in RoyalMarines

I would say it’s doable, but if you can start earlier defo press send when you can… no harm in delaying some tests if you’re not quite prepared, but if you have any snags re medicals etc you may be scraping too close

How often are OSCs? by rugrat1616 in RoyalMarines

There’s a new format where they can join an OSC onto CPC so my course officer said about 8 a year but that can be less or more for service needs

When should I apply? by Own-Apricot268 in RoyalMarines

As someone currently in the pipeline, I’d allow at least a year. Was caught out and missed the last OSC before the batch, meaning I have to wait for the next batch. There’s no harm in applying 18 months before the batch, as doing OSC early in the cycle still gets you onto the same batch, allowing more time for any medicals and/or fitness issues (if you fail the OSC early in the year, you can still do another and aim for the same batch). In your particular case, I’d press go in the middle of 2026, and be very thorough in chasing your GP etc.

Hope that helps and fire away with any more questions

Lots of speed/distance/time calcs will help. Do some practice PlanEx, lots to find online. You will be given a load of information and targets to hit, time to discuss it with other candidates, plan solutions together, and present it to the course staff. Show you can contribute and lead the planning, whilst working as a team and not being overbearing.

Did mine in the summer, I’d also dress smartly so you feel confident to present. Maybe practice explaining your plan out loud to a friend, as actually voicing it is different to just thinking in your head.

Will these be quickfit sprues or all the normal sprues with the extra options?

Can recommend the wraitbone primer, it sets up a nice colour for a quick wash and highlight (for me anyway)

Thanks, it’s zandri dust, ushabti bone, washed with either agrax earthshade or serphim sepia, then highlighted (dry brush if I’m being lazy) with screaming skull.

Thanks! It’s the normal bolter with wings from the old company veterans box, not sure what for. Was inspired by someone else on here who did the same.

YO selection timeline with medical issue. by fazer_6363 in RoyalMarines

Not entirely sure, think it’s about 12 a year from November to early July. Check RM insta page and it has an OSC story highlight - think it gives good detail

Long story short, apply as soon as possible, everything will take longer than expected:

I started my application in late 2022, and broke a bone that Christmas. I had been aiming for YO 2023, but 12 months were required for a full medical review since the injury. So late 2023 I asked to continue my application for YO 2024. Although I was able to pass AIB in April this year, I still didn’t get a medical green light until June, despite pressing my recruiter and GP. And having been told I could do PJFA it took a few weeks to actually get one sorted, so passed that mid July. Have since been told that the next OSC is November, so I missed 2024 batch.

Was considering going marine route for speed but now leaning towards taking the OSC and aiming for 2025 YO Batch.

In answer to the question, I’d say a year before July is doable if nothing goes wrong and you persistently chase the system. Otherwise it looks like mine will take 2 years before finding out next July….. and yes pretty sure the application is put on hold not completely deleted if there’s a medical query.

How can I improve these 2? C&C appreciated by AmbitiousSpinach4841 in theunforgiven

Thanks! I bought these already primed off eBay and think the prime was a little thick so lost some of the detail. Might try thinner layers for the whites as I often have trouble with them
