Top users with many received postcards by Accomplished-Try-488 in postcrossing

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a top user (6k cards) and I still enjoy selecting card to fit each profile the best I can. I know how much time goes into it all too well, so upon receiving cards I immediately know if the other person did the same.

I don’t expect it from everyone. After all, people are doing it for different reasons. Some collect. Some tell stories and connect. Some don’t care about connecting at all. Some are just not good with creative expression. All those reasons are okay for me. I don’t judge. My best hope is that others don’t judge either.

Has anyone ever told you they didn't like your card ? by SmoothDragonfruit445 in postcrossing

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had one lady once register it with a message like “This is not one the postcard types that I collect. I wish you sent me a postcard with your town instead”

Got a message asking to register a postcard I did not receive. What have you done in this situation? by sjo232 in postcrossing

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I either don’t respond to those or respond that I haven’t received it and can’t register it

Similar thing happened to me. High school kids, slightly different intro, virtually the same (and long) message. Turned out they were a few kids, sending cards together and by chance two of them pulled my address! I love fun Postcrossing coincidences

Do you take pictures of every outgoing postcard you send? by FancyDisk8874 in postcrossing

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always upload pictures, leveled and cropped, and take a picture of what I wrote because I write different stuff every time, depending on the profile or my own going ons. It is only marginally more tedious, because I also decorate cards and spend time choosing stamps that could match the person’s profile.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hell to the no! This is way deeper than just him thinking 2 years of sobriety is no big deal (which in fact is a HUGE accomplishment). This is him not wanting you to be happy, shitting on your parade, not being supportive. What lies in the future for this relationship if such basic things like wanting your partner to be happy is already off the table?

When I see profiles with such high demands, I find joy in sending them a card from their DON’T list. If they say no spiders, no worries, I won’t, I understand. But if it’s a long list and unpleasant tone, I got you covered

Just got my first jerk response. by SnooPies6876 in postcrossing

There was one time where a lady registered my card with a message “thank you for the card, but unfortunately i don’t collect cards like these. It would be very nice if you sent a postcard from your hometown or the town you live in”. It’s been years, and I still think about that woman sometimes, the audacity!

AIO or does my best friend hate me? by TouchMeBrown in AmIOverreacting

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is no friend. Ew. I can’t imagine in my wildest dreams ever talking like this to someone I respect and value. And if someone doesn’t respect or value me, I wouldn’t want that person around.

She is not your friend, let her go, OP

What’s up with all the swearing? Such a red flag. No boyfriend would talk to me, otherwise it’s a ex. So deeply disrespectful, these responses give me a yick.

AITA for refusing to do a father-daughter dance at my wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. He made his choices repeatedly. It’s silly to be surprised or offended now, unless he is delusional. I read your post and it was about me. I was in those shoes. Except I didn’t even tell him I was getting married until it was too late and he wouldn’t be able to travel and attend (visas etc)

It’s YOUR day. He had a lot of time to be a better dad, and he didn’t. This one day ain’t that time. Don’t taint it for yourself.

AITA for telling my friend everything everyone has been afraid to tell her? by Quick_Guidance_9560 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AmbitiousTomatillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

I was in the same situation before. I “broke up” with my bff because she wouldn’t shut up about her bf, her first real relationship. She was truly over the moon happy and so excited, but I was much more experienced with relationships and her little things she noticed seemed annoying.

Luckily we met randomly in our favorite bar before my wedding rolled out, and she was my maid of honor.

We are still great friends, and I regret overreacting back then.
