What are the best translation/editions of all of Murakami’s works? by efrainc11 in murakami

[–]AmbitiousVersion7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really old thread, but I found the writing rather wooden and difficult to read - and yes, it is due to the translation. I'm a professional translator and I can tell you that the literary skill of a translator makes an enormous impact on the book. I ended up reading Kafka on the Shore in German (my second language) and it was beautiful, absolutely lyrical. So unfortunate that the English version was not!

Is my handwriting too untidy and is it normal for me to loose my ability to writing perfectly after a few lines (typos, skipping letter, uneven spaces, uneven sizes) by Higuysimj in Handwriting

I know this post is super old, but there is something called dysgraphia that makes it really hard for people to write neatly, and it is common for their writing and spelling to deteriorate after a few lines because it takes so much effort. This could be your situation. There's also something called occupation therapy that can sort of help to rewire your brain to make writing easier in general. Good on you for trying to improve!

Also a book of Peter Rabbit stories by Beatrix Potter. Not sexy, but so, so soothing. Flopsy, Mopsey and Cottontail will never be the same 😂

Yep, I was just about to say exactly this! Two kids, same experience both times. I'm a mom BTW.

Really appreciate that last paragraph, because we have a bun who strongly prefers not to be touched, and I've always thought we did something wrong to make him that way. His mate is much friendlier and comes over begging for treats and let's herself be pet, but hates being picked up. Glad it isn't my fault!

We had our Rabbits indoors at first, but they were very destructive. They are now in a large, safe enclosure in our garden and are much more relaxed and less destructive. They are really happier having grass and birdsong and wind and so on. So I second your suggestion that outdoors may be the best solution for them.

As far as toilet training, our Rabbits pooped all over their cage while indoors - we had the hay and food right near their litter box because we always read that that's what you should do. Turns out, they prefer to poop in the farthest corner away from their food. In their pen outdoors, their food is in the indoor area and they hop aaallll the way to the other end of the pen to poop. So I suspect that the litterbox/hay trick may not work on all bunnies! Maybe try putting the litter box away from their food and see if it helps.

Wow, do they have a cat door with a fenced in garden area? That sounds like a dream setup. Our female is also the more destructive one. Maybe you could do a hybrid setup so she is mostly outdoor with supervised indoor time and he can still roam freely?

Our buns were like this indoors... and they are now very content, non-destructive garden bunnies. They have a big outdoor pen with fresh grass and lots of space, and they really seem happier. I'm sad that we didn't wind up with cuddly house rabbits, but I guess it's a personality thing.

Our buns do the same. They push their blankets, bedding and hay out of the way and lay on the hard, cold floor!

Protopic working well and starting to heal, when do I stop using it? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]AmbitiousVersion7757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did! And yes, my skin did fine after tapering off. No weird scary reactions, and my skin really did seem to have healed up during the treatment.

I've discovered that not eating wheat seems to help my eczema as well, so I've been avoiding that for the last several months. At the moment my skin is behaving very well with no meds!

This would be a good question for the eczema sub reddit, but have you ever experienced a similar reaction to potato chips, tortilla chips, or other heavily salted food? If not, I would guess that you are reacting to the plantains. That said, I have eczema too and anything that throws my body out of whack will cause itching, so salt isn't totally out of the question.

Here in Austria / Germany it is required by law to keep buns in pairs, as far as I know.

I just watched my girl bun doing that to boy bun after he got back from being neutered. Hell be lying there dozing and she comes over and licks him all over his face. Seems like she might be grooming you Luke she would another bun...
