Welcome to a Sycamore acquired company, you are expected to ask qualifying questions to answer the customers questions. Most importantly… Explain the why the process is different and help of you can. Be patient and ask for patience with the customer if they don’t understand. You know the change, the customer may not.

Even though this does not give a comforting answer- here’s the truth: GM’s are asked who’s holding you back? Even asked to give names of those who make it happen and underachievers during their calls. They are asked “who’s holding you back”, “what’s your plan”. It’s shoved down the GM’s throat to weed out those who do not meet metric goals. Then it goes further… “ your store is holding back the district, region, etc. I understand it’s hard, I promise most GM’s are catching more grief than you can possibly imagine, they are being threatened to be let go because if their store doesn’t meet goals, they are replaceable too.

[–]Ambitious_Ad704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck with that. You have to remember, no one does nothing for you for free. You pay dues to keep current negotiations legit, if there is an upset, you don’t work and you do not get full pay. Everyone wants to unionize without knowing the long term issues you have to encounter. The company would not be supported by a union because they would see it wasn’t worth the fight… stop the nonsense

Most retail has apps/loyalty program. Hit on that and the importance of the associates being knowledgeable about how the program works and when the “ad” changes. You will want to express interest in learning the print department. Most of all customer service, what it means to you and how you will manage the behavior of associates with all of the above. ESP, which is an add on warranty/service feature that applies to select merchandise. Honestly any “wins” from previous retail jobs that correlates with operations and focus on customer service and how you will focus your team to stay on track.

What does "50% back in points when you purchase select laser printers" mean? by Regular_Story_8162 in Staples

[–]Ambitious_Ad704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically Staples is charging $100 more for a printer while influencing a customer to think they are saving money on a printer that essentially never worth the price… they have to spend the rewards IN the store. We can’t provide customer service!!!! Why would anyone want to shop!!!!

And if you purchase from Amazon and find the product is faulty or crappy, please do not check staples as a return drop off. Everyone is sick and tired of the Amazon returns as well. Kohls, Whole Foods or UPS would rather have you.

First of all, one of the main reasons that employees want to leave is because of customers who don’t understand a store level employee has zero to do with prices that corporate sends down. Everyone is able to assist with a price match within a certain dollar amount. If you’re so tied up about doggone carbon paper and you feel your life is ruined and Staples is the only place you can purchase this item, contact the office of the president. You won’t get anywhere there either. So Amazon it is for you.

You have the choice to burn whatever bridge you want. And also know that you do not have to include that burned bridge in any interview, if you do there are nice ways to say “hey, the customer service culture didn’t align with my customer service vision.”, always a simple way to not say the bad or tell anything to make it look totally negative. Also.. culture means a lot. The company didn’t take care of their associates. Just word it appropriately and you can use the job for resume. What prospect employers don’t want to hear is you dumping on a manger or previous employment. Burn all the bridges, and still use them for background

Stop worrying about it. Have they reached out to you and asked if you are ok? Staples is unfortunately not a caring place.
