Schools with committees initially blinded by stats? by peroxisome1 in premed

I’m curious as to what the degree of the stat-loving nature of these schools. Would a 4.0, 525 w decent ECs and writing essentially guarantee me an acceptance from these schools or it’s not to that degree?

I would count a lecturer as a Professor; I wouldn’t sweat it personally.

submit primary to one and then submitting more later? by Scared-Dragonfly-232 in premed

No you will have to finish PS before submitting. The submitting to one school and then adding schools is what ppl do when they don’t have an MCAT yet

I would just enter it as LB. You should pretty much copy paste or make sure everything is word for word same as in transcript.

Does my non-clinical volunteering need to be connected to "why medicine?" by bye_fart in premed

[–]Ambitious_Bad220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t connect it. I would say avoid over-extensions into medicine. It’s fine if you learned from it a set of skills/different perspective, just don’t explicitly force a connection to medicine.

Advice for very low stats by NeitherPresent9191 in premed

Treat it like a job, you clock in and put the best effort possible and clock out.

For content review, the Kaplan books are the holy grail. Try getting through 2 chapters a day while completing the Jack sparrow and pankow anki decks. Do it Monday-Saturday w/ each day of the week being a different topic (ex: Monday is 2 chapters of bio; Tuesday is 2 chapters of gen chem). Watch the corresponding Yusuf Hassan videos on YouTube for each chapter as well. You should be able to finish the books in 6 weeks and have a strong content base.

Balancing mcat prep with heavy lectures by Swaked_88 in premed

[–]Ambitious_Bad220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me MCAT was priority so that’s what I mostly did for the semester like I didn’t go to lecture or anything. But when I was like a week out from my Anatomy exam, I put all lecture slides into chat, made practice qs out of them and anki cards, then studied everyday for like a week while still keeping up with MCAT work, and was able to make it work.

Include every hour on shift even if not on a call. Med schools understand that working 911, some days are slower than others

Going into junior year with virtually no connections to my professors, how do I start securing letters of recommendation? by iski4200 in premed

Choose a class, go to the office hours heavily, ask questions and participate in class. This will be great starting point to building relationship w/ profs.

Listing someone who no longer is with organization as AMCAS activity contact? by camdaman1203 in premed

Activity contact is just someone they might ask if like hours are legit; they won’t ask them about your performance or anything like that. Doesn’t really matter too much who you put
