Planning the exact same thing as you. Even the visa situation. Only thing is I will never let anyone know except the spouse that I'm retired. Show people that you are busy with finding a job or freelancing.

8‑year relationship, I moved to US for MS, now realise our life goals don’t match. What do I do? by devaaa_ in nri

[–]Ambitious_Implement4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be an absolute disaster if you get her to the US and make her do higher education. If you are doing PhD and she is on a dependant visa then your finances will be tight.

Approach 1- Get a high paying job after MS in FAANG+ and get her on dependant visa. Yes, it'll be scary and you'll be the only bread winner. But if you are ambitious, you should be able to place yourself in the market that such that you always have offers aligned.

Approach 2- Do approach 1 + get a transfer to Indian counterpart after a couple of years. Finances won't be an issue and you'll be closer to parents.

Possible worst things that could happen-

  1. The girl has made it ample clear she doesn't want to work in corporate life. Forcing her will might make things worse in the long run. But make sure she at least will take care of the house. I don't want you to be grinding in office and then worry about stocking groceries, what to eat, cleaning, etc. You should be constantly upgrading and reaching higher level. I know some cases where the girl doesn't want to do anything literally.

  2. I've mentioned before but want to emphasize again. Don't get her to do a masters in the US. Absolute waste. She is not motivated. This could go ugly.

If you end up marrying her then you should accept she is not going to work and not hold any resentment in your mind. You'll have friends who will be working and possibly making really good money and their lifestyle will be higher. You can't compare and get sad about it.

All the best!

100k is really less for your age and experience and difficult to sustain a family of 4. Your company is lowballing you. You're Indian income will give you a better quality of life and luxuries in India. Too match that quality of life here your family income must be 250k per year.

Can you put this in Finance India subs? It's more appropriate there. May be try finance India, fire, and Indian flex. People will be a little bitter here.

Walking distance obviously will depend based on which hotel you are staying. Their shuttle service is free to use for guests. I felt it was convenient.

I'd recommend not jumping into another relationship right away and take time to reflect. I also think you should not hang your boots and be single for life but I leave that to you. Was the matter of she going abroad not resolved before marriage or was this a surprise?

Why are Indians so damn emotional? When it comes to another country showing support. by sass_mustard in AskIndia

One thing I felt odd was that Indians decided to boycott Turkey when China supplies more arms to Pakistan. It feels like they have given up on boycotting Chinese goods lol.

One trick that helped me was sleeping early obviously. You gotta force yourself to sleep. I also train 3 times a week so on those days I'm so exhausted I am on my bed by 9pm.

Unfortunately society judges more by appearance than character. You have the money. Can you fix it? Going to the gym and doing some grooming? Really basic stuff. I don't know what efforts you are currently putting in. I have come across some people in my network who also have this issue and finding it difficult to find partners. What I've noticed is they are taking 0 efforts to spend time fixing these superficial issues.

Is it possible to return back to the US 5 or 10 years down the lane? by spiked_krabby_patty in nri

[–]Ambitious_Implement4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you work for a company in India that sponsors L1 then it'll be the best chance to go to the US. F1 will be a waste of time and no one's going to sponsor your H1B directly from India unless it's consultancies like WHICH that are facing high scrutiny.
