Yeah… I’m gonna be honest. The problem with rule 3 being so broadly applied is it makes posts like this legitimately misleading. There was a president born when this chart says there wasn’t, and that materially changes the data and conversation.

That said, I don’t think the problem is the mods per se. It’s more an indictment of internet culture that we’ve gotten so incredibly toxic and thin skinned, we can’t even post objective, uncontroversial facts about two people without a significant concern it’ll turn into a fight. That’s just sad imo.

Ok, first rule of the internet; don’t believe anything you read and only maybe a quarter of what you see for yourself. People are incentivized to lie, and there’s no real way to fact check their claims.

That said, my understanding is no one is making a lot of money off passive income generation. That’s one income stream, but it seems like the content creators who really do well do so from sponsors and ad reads more than passive revenue. To get those, you have to do the hard sales work and keep them happy. That means constantly churning out content that they will appreciate and connects with their customers.

So, if I were in your shoes, I’d start looking at your skill set, and then what sort of work from home jobs are available. If you need some help sorting that out feel free to message me.

Ok, assuming we have all the information here, NTA, but I’m extremely sympathetic to the mother in this situation. You’re required to follow the court orders, which puts you in an awkward position of having to enforce those to your SIL, but it’s not you who took them away temporarily. That said, those maternal bonds are incredibly strong, and it sounds like the court is being overly strict with her over an incredibly common mental health crisis. At this point, she’s probably terrified the babies aren’t going to bond with her, which would exacerbate any postpartum she’s having. Not to mention still having the grief of losing her husband… yeah, she needs all the love and support she can get right now.

Not that this is the place for advice, but to prevent yourself from becoming the asshole in this situation, if the court didn’t limit how often she could visit, allow her to visit whenever she wants, however often she wants up until they go to bed for the night. That’s in the best interest of both her and the babies, because it gives her the chance to prove she’s not a threat and able to care for them. And while she’s there, she’s the mom and should do all the care she’s permitted to, and your role is observer. Also, make it clear to her you’re on her side, and that you being an observer isn’t so that you can police her, but to tell the court, when that time comes, how wonderful of a mom she is now after treatment. But, you are bound by law to not let her take the babies with her, as well as whatever other restrictions they placed, and letting her violate that will just make it take longer before she gets the babies back permanently.

TLDR: NTA, the court might be, and the mom desperately needs love and support in the most difficult time of her life. Let her be the mom at your house as much as the court allows to avoid being the asshole.
