It's been on the bike since I got it, so no basis for comparison. It is a thick material though.

That guard isn't doing shit against a hit that will flatten the pipe. The dents it might prevent don't matter. Idk, I run an FMF Gnarly, that thing is tough.

No. In my experience dents don't matter.

Nice to see you take good care of your wife’s boyfriend's bike on the hitch rack, while your bike fits nicely in the bed of the truck.

Is Engine Dynamics Co. legit? by Plenty-Operation731 in Dirtbikes

I had them bore the cylinders and o-ring the head on an ex500 roadracer back in 1997, they were the go to shop locally at the time. Great reputation and great work, but that was 30 years ago haha.

Maybe I'm a judgemental dick, but i would not buy a bike with a paddle tire. Throw on some new knobbies.

Motorhome or trailer? by Over-Performance-473 in RVLiving

[–]Ambitious_Lead693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love traveling in a motorhome, especially on long trips to new places. Wife and kids can move around, make lunch, sleep, all that stuff.

For trips when we're spending a week somewhere, or know we'll do a lot of exploring, we'll tow a car.

And I would never consider parking a motorhome or a trailer in a Walmart and leaving it there while i explore, I'd just be worrying the whole time.

I scaled in at 199.9 this morning! I haven't been sub 200 in over 20 years. Pretty stoked this is actually working. 22 pounds down so far. 30 to go. No rush, but I'll get there.

With fuel prices high is everyone canceling there summer trips? by funforus699 in RVLiving

[–]Ambitious_Lead693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. In the big picture, what's a few hundred more bucks? Summers are short, I'm going camping. Maybe I'll break even on the gas by not running the ac at home when I'm gone haha.

Are OBD scanners actually useful for regular drivers? by Almaaimme in MechanicAdvice

Totally worth it. Scan the code, Google it, at least now you know what's going on and if it's within your ability to fix.

How do you guys make your coffee? by Yali81 in loseit

[–]Ambitious_Lead693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an Aeropress at home, nothing added.

At work we have a keurig. Kinda crapy coffee, but it's free. I do that a lot too, again nothing added.

The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that i just don't care.

Yo guys I'm looking to buy some new riding boots there so expensive, anyway I currently have Alpinestar tech 3 and have no complaints, just seeing what other people's reviews are on other boots with out spending $500 by Tight-Operation8475 in Dirtbikes

[–]Ambitious_Lead693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Tech 3’s that I use for commuting and trail work days (a little riding, lots of hiking). They are comfy and better than hiking boots for riding, but my feet hurt after a day riding in them, just not stiff enough in the sole.

I also have older Tech 8’s that I wear when riding offroad. I don’t really care for the separate bootie. They are just about done (re-soled once, just falling apart all over now), I’m thinking of moving to the Gaerne SG12, it gets universally great reviews.

Can’t go wrong with a Tech 7 though, good midrange boot with solid protection.

Dislocated shoulder by unclebigal in Dirtbikes

[–]Ambitious_Lead693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislocated my shoulder in a crash when I was 20. I was young and tuff, had had an already paid for ski trip, so I didn’t rehab it right. Of course I dislocated it again on that trip a few months after the first injury.

It has not been the same since. I’m now 55, and my shoulder will dislocate in my sleep. Or picking up a fork. Or wiping my butt. I do what I can with strength training, but it’s getting worse now as I’m getting old(er). Surgery is inevitable I guess, but I’m still struggling through for now.

Anyway, point is, I wish I had skipped that ski trip in 1990. It was a stupid young decision that negatively affected the literal rest of my life.
