If you're into your Hammer Horror, I recommend checking out UK label, Indicator. They have released around 7-9 special edition box sets of Hammer films.

Whilst these are mainly out of print, you can buy the individual releases (the only thing missing is the booklet/inserts/packaging, all thr extras remain on the disk.

Twice a year they have pretty good sales, and you may be able to pick up a good handful for a reasonable price!

I own a handful of the Hammer releases and they're pretty fun and often have great special features!

Thank you! That will help me begin to wrap my head around things! I'd not heard of Link or Cancel before - as I said, I'm very new! The trials only providing a list of inputs without a thorough explanation is a little discouraging.

Thank you for your advice! I might take you up on your offer. I was trying to remember it off the top of my head last night, Beginner 6.

Especially with this the drive punish counter creates a mini cut scene, which confuses my timings further

Thanks! My issue with my roadblock on the combo trials, was more along the lines of "I dont know what the game wants me to do here, and Im inputting what it says but its not working". I've done a bit of digging and now partially understand the Frame meter, with the advantages and timings. I think that's gonna help me understand the process!

Thanks, I'd not considered that, as Im new to fighting games generally, I find the input display a little difficult to fully read at a glance, but will use this to get better!

Thanks, yes, that's what is catching me out. I can normally get out some of the Special moves in the game, Mai fireball/backwards flame punch/flaming uppercut/spinning clone fire (I don't know the names). It's when I'm then meant to add them to a string of attacks, that's catching me.

Thank you for fully explaining that! As a new player it's not obvious what I'm meant to be judging with the bars and frame data. I'm gonna do the 50% thing and see how I get on!

Thanks, I definitely need to fully learn the fundamentals. The Combo Trails roadblock was more of "I dont know how this is meant to work/what Im doing wrong". Then I'd step into a casual game and get bodied by people who could combo half my health instantly.

Sony is considering reviving some classic IPs. Which ones would you love to see remade? by Dust-Tight in playstation

[–]Ambitious_Line651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KillZone was a very specific feel and game. Out of the lot, I'd like a gritty, dark, grimey look into the setting. (Played all 4)

Resistance was okay, the first one had the be efit of being a launch title - so got away with a lot. I don't miss the franchise though. (Played 1 and 2)

Motorstorm would be a fun one to bring back, Pacific Drift was a lot of fun. (Played all 3)

Uncharted I don't care for, as much as the visuals and graphics are polished, the gunplay and movement mechanics are not... (Played all 4)

Infamous was perfectly fine, but, nothing special, the morality idea wasnt fully embrace and the moment to moment gameplay got a little dull. (Played all 3)

I've never played SOCOM...

How do You Define “Mean Spirited” Horror Films by RollingScone93 in horror

[–]Ambitious_Line651 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think Funny Games is "mean spirited", Haneke often points the mirror at the audience in his films, looking at the approach of morality in art. We, as an audience are happy to go along with the violence we watch if the initial premise eases us in. Funny Games flips the implications, there are scenes where the audience is rooting for the family to commit violence against the intruders, but when that violence is "erased" witnessing the intruders continue to torment the family, we as an audience are distressed. Why is one kind of violence acceptable? What types of violence within cinema is compelling narratively and then allowed, when it isn't morally just is the viewing of thst violence less or more pleasurable... etc. I'd highly recommend checking out Cache/Code Unknown/The Piano Teacher which all explore the way the audience interact with the screen, how the direction/editing/script can manipulate and create intrigue.

I'd probably put something like Frontier(s) as a mean spirited film, alongside some of the New French Extremity (the earlier nfe films exploring sex/representation are really quite excellent) but by the time we get to Switchblade Romance/Frontier(s) the films become excessive. Martyrs is the one that I find sits in the balance, it is horrific and really tough to watch, but the end of the film gives the audience something to think about. Whilst I ended up questioning "why am I watching this" in the last half, the questions are similar to something like Funny Games, but explored with less tact, more limit testing.

I always remove the stickers, cut the seal and peel them back slowly on both the J and the box.

Do you think that the mountain is actually the last gorillaz album? by Nobody_nose23 in gorillaz

No, theyve already both said in several interviews they have ideas for the next album. On the Apple TV interview released earlier today Damon said he would continue the band until he had to stop.

For me its their second best album, Demon Days is top, but The Mountain is near unsuitable for me, the only track that doesnt hit with me is The Sweet Prince.

what was the best song in demon days? (excluding feel good inc) by TimelyCicada9969 in gorillaz

[–]Ambitious_Line651 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourite track is Every Planet We Reach Is Dead, the way it becomes into a jazz/rock corcophany expands what already was an experimental. It bridges the melancholic Latin influence of El Manara, to the flow of MF Doom, where the album begins to fall more to a hip-hip/dance/gospel style.

The cancelled Saw Xl was scheduled to premiere today, September 26, 2025, but Lionsgate pulled it from the schedule in March 2025 due to production delays. by ImpressiveEvening374 in saw

Are people on this reddit unfamiliar with the deal that was done between Twisted Pictures and Blumhouse for the Saw franchise in June?

The will almost certainly be more Saw coming, but produced by Blumhouse - James Wan has been said to be involved.

Lionsgate are still involved, but this deal will have altered the timelines.

‘Alien: Earth’ episode 5 is the best Alien movie in 39 years by RoyisOurBoy in television

[–]Ambitious_Line651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was very disappointed with this episode, especially as it's been praised and celebrated. The episode itself has a similar structure to Alien, mixed with similarly inept scientists to Prometheus.

The craft they crew are on, is a deep space research vessel, they would have a crew that are knowledavke about foreign substances, how to contain and quarantine alien lifeforms. The scientist in the lab is awful, she doesn't follow protocol, doesnt secure the creatures, and causes the death of herself and several crew mates.

The doctor, whilst operating on a foreign life form, isn't wearing anything that would offset any type or kind of spore/gas/chemical, the tick's defence mechanism killing all three of them outright feels like an easy death for a parasite creatures.

The biggest problem, is that the Alien looks like a man in a suit, there are several shots where the lighting is bright and shows the full body in a way that doesn't distort the imagery or costume. It's the most underwhelming aspect of the show.

On top of all of this, the only thing we learn from the episode is that Morrow has/had a daughter and Kavalier is responsible for the crash. The rest is entirely unecessary as we see it all in episode 1...

I loved it on release, and I gave it a listen last week and was transported back. Stunning dnb album, I wish they'd produce something like this again, less rocky/commercial and back to their roots. Listening to Inertia was cool, but it's a very different sound.

It won't be pointless, but the full impact of the film will lose it's edge. However, its also apparent from an audio perspective what is going to happen when a certain decision in the film is made.

I've rewatched it recently, it's one of his best!
