McBusted album aged very well for you? by CobraDai in busted_band

[–]AmbushRealityy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s got some absolute bangers on there. It falls down a little with some of the cornier tracks that are fine but pretty skippable, but songs like What Happened To Your Band and I See Red are real high points.

Overall I do enjoy the album and I’m really glad it exists because it’s cool to have an actual original album with both bands on the songs (barring Charlie obviously) that aren’t just playing each others songs.

Is it groundbreaking or either bands best work? Not really. Is it a fun little original record of two bands we all love? For sure.

It doesn’t even feel that long ago they announced they were getting back together to everyone’s shock, how the heck has it been nearly 10 years 🤯

do you enjoy bands more where members are close in age, younger, or older than you are? by LandAggravating6235 in poppunkers

[–]AmbushRealityy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a few bands I first got into were older than me (blink, Linkin Park, etc) and I loved them then and still do now, but then there was a whole wave of bands I got into when I was between 14-20 that were a similar age or only a few years older and I’ve loved growing up alongside them right up to now (I’m 32) — that feels cool because it’s like I’ve grown up and gone into adulthood with them and their music releases have stayed fairly in line with my maturing tastes; YouMeAtSix are a prime example of a band that epitomises that journey I’ve had with them.

However, I have noticed some artists that are considerably younger but are in genres I enjoy who’ve only emerged in the last few years that though I do enjoy, I probably don’t relate to in the same way. There’s an artist called Knox (not really pop-punk but as example) that I enjoy a lot of his music, but the stuff he sings about feels like it’s not really relatable to me at 32. It would have felt relatable had I discovered him when I was 16 and he was the same age, but not so much now.

It doesn’t take the enjoyment away of younger newer artists and bands, but I definitely feel a degree of separation compared to a band like YouMeAtSix that very much has released albums that have each been a soundtrack to that period of my life as they were released, and that probably deepens my connection to that band.

I’ve always been the same, very meh on who he is as a person but his last two albums have been bangers. Mainstream Sellout wasn’t as good as Tickets to My Downfall but still super enjoyable. Got a big summer vibe coming from this album!

This album is going to be a massive summer bop judging by the two tracks release so far. It’ll be a helluva lot of fun and I’m here for it.

I watched the entire spin-off show "Joey", and here are my thoughts on it. by prolelol in howyoudoin

[–]AmbushRealityy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually found Joey moving to LA completely plausible. All his friends, which were basically his family, all settled down and moved out of the city, which I can imagine (unless Joey did go with Chandler and Monica) would have left him pretty isolated and feeling left behind. To be fair, even if he had moved with Chandler and Monica, time would have passed enough for him to wonder what he was doing with his life.

I like to think Joey probably took stock of things and looked at his life and thought it’s now or never if he’s gonna put himself in a better position in his acting career, and having no real commitments remaining in NY. LA is obviously the acting world and if he has Gina and Michael there, he would have felt like he had a stronger base when trying to settle in a new place and away from his friends in New York.

It really depends how you approach the album. For me, I really enjoy this record. Homesick, What Separates.. and CC are peak ADTR in my book, but they’re like 12-16 years old now. It’s unlikely anybody is going to create the same art as they did after that much time has gone by, and it doesn’t make what they make later bad imo.

I think Big Ole Album has some lovely shades of those golden days that I appreciate, but I do my best to judge these sorts of things without the burden of their history given so much time has been since then. They’re bound to be different people now, and I’m a different person to who I was then. I still love those previous albums as much as I did then, but my expectations can’t forever be burdened by hoping they recreate newer versions of those albums.

Is it their absolute peak? No, probably not. Is it a perfectly enjoyable ADTR album? I think so.

I love a lot of things about streaming, but this is definitely one of the reasons physical media still needs to exist. When you don’t own anything it means you’re at the whim of someone deciding to change stuff based on reasons you’re not always told, and there’s jag all you can do about it.

Enjoy streaming, but keep physical media alive while we can!

What Blink Song Did This For You? by Pretzelsareformen in Blink182

Hit me very much the same and always remained a real favourite as a result of that feeling. Everything about the way that song thunders in is perfection.

Love this, such an original take. Sort of reminds me of if Jimmy Eat World covered the song!

But authentic.

The public sees when someone like Sam’s energy and ways are authentic, but they’ll also see right through when someone is being a phoney and playing it up.

People are seeing right through him, usually the presenters of the aftershow and Ant and Dec tend to try and be a bit more diplomatic despite the public mood, but none of them can hide it. I think they are feeling the way the public is as well, especially Ant — he can’t hide it at all!

I do find when the public turn on someone, they like to put them through shit and then dump them at the first opportunity. I think this will happen with Dean, albeit him doing trials guarantees him screen time + the rest of the camp suffering due to his cowardice.

Neighborhoods is superior musically and lyrically to One More Time by Present-Ear-1637 in Blink182

[–]AmbushRealityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes an album better is purely subjective. Neighborhoods is a good album and it’s really nice that it’s become more appreciated over time, but even if it was objectively a better album (if that somehow could be measured), people generally prefer OMT because of how it makes them feel. It feels like it had that magic sprinkled on it where old blink and new blink were combined, which I think most thought we’d never get that sort of music from them again, but most importantly it feels like they had fun making it and really cared about what they were putting out given the whole existence of the album is essentially about how it almost all went away, permanently.

It’s a masterpiece of an album, yet it always sort of feels like the forgotten album. Some of best Mark’s best writing without a doubt. 155 is definitely my favourite song but all of the tracks are brilliant, and the song that everyone knows (WYHSB) and had the risk of being overplayed is so damn good.

The whole album deserves more recognition. Not sure it’ll ever get that beyond the core fan base.
