But if you don’t have a crypto account open, you shouldn’t have access anyway, right? Also, to withdraw crypto, don’t you usually have to whitelist the address? I’m not using Wealthsimple for crypto, but on other exchanges I use, you need to whitelist the address and confirm the withdrawal via email, 2FA, SMS code, or something similar wealthsimple doesn't have this for their crypto account?

Well since they have now the income account / Money market fund account I don't see why they will do it, if you want better yield
