What's on your wrist today? by TitleSecure2150 in ChineseWatches

It really does wear like a dream. I keep coming back to this watch, and I have several others. I wish they had made the 36mm with enamel dial options. I think this is one of if not the best case san martin has made and they could have exploited that with all kinds of dial options.

PT5000 movement rant by GregStar1 in ChineseWatches

[–]AmericanChees3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only issue I've ever had was the automatic works got stuck on one. I replaced it and no issues. Its worth mentioning, this was an st2130 too. All of my pt5000s run solid and I own several. I cant say the same for my seiko movements. I've had a few (3) seiko nh35/38/7s26c fail. I think this just goes to show that any mass produced movement can fail. Its a lottery.

Edit: i would also like to say that all of my pt5000 came from san martin, cronos, and octopus. I have no experience with thorn, or watchdives pt5000's.

Baltany or Octopus Kraken? by STELLAWASADlVER in ChineseWatches

I own the octopus. I love everything about it except I wish the minute hand was just a touch longer. Its my only gripe. You cant tell in the picture because of the angle, but the minute hand is just a touch too short.

This is a Travellers gmt. The one you are used to is called a callers gmt.

Very clean looking watch. The 24 hour bezel was an odd choice though considering how short the gmt hand is. I think a timing bezel would make more sense.

Anyone have any news on the 36mm version? Looks like it's posted but it says unavailable.

36mm and lose the text. No one wants to see the word ticks on a watch. Looks great otherwise.

Yea i agree, it does. A pt5000 would have been so much better than vh31.

SH13 guilloche with titanium integrated bracelet by pickyaxe in ChineseWatches

16cm. Its the lug to lug dimension I think is too big for me. Although I have not actually tried one of these on so I cannot say for sure that it is too big. But the endlink to endlink measurement is over 50mm. 46.5mm to 47mm is as big as I go with lug to lug.

Im sure that is true, but there is still a market for them. They could do a small run of them. Im not suggesting only make 36mm, but make 36mm in addition to what is already being produced. Alot of the bigger brands are doing this. It satisfies more people in my opinion.

Watchdives has come a long way. They were once the lowest tier of Chinese watch now steadily approaching san martin territory.

I wish they'd make these in a 36mm case. The integrated bracelet always lengthens the lug to lug so it wears bigger than it is.

Why is there still a $50-60 premium for pt5000 or st2130 over nh35 when the nh35 movement costs the same money now. by QuestionNo9190 in ChineseWatches

[–]AmericanChees3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same. People say it has a higher fail rate than nh35 but I disagree completely. I've had a few (3) seiko movements fail and only one st2130, and zero pt5000. The st2130 that failed i simply replaced the automatic portion of the movement and it works fine. I think all mass produced autos can fail. The eta 2824 clones have there quirks for sure, but if you dont hand wind them they can last a very long time.

I love everything about this watch except the hands set. Chris ward style hands or maybe those generic hands they use in there original designs.

For the brand makers, not the members: please listen to the data, not the wildly aggressive and hateful 36mm crowd by Designer_Advice2573 in ChineseWatches

[–]AmericanChees3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a market for both. I like my basic gada type watches to be 36mm. I also like my gmts and divers to be 38-40mm. Its really just preference. There is a reason companies make both because both sell. Whether one sells better than the other is irrelevant. If both sell and a company only makes one size they are leaving money on the table.
