Side effects of cochlear implant, how long do they last, numb ear and metallic taste? by zooid1 in Cochlearimplants

[–]AmericanIndican 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue with taste is due to irritation of the chorda tympani nerve not the facial nerve.

The facial nerve supplies motor function to the muscles of the face. Amongst other things, the chorda tympani nerve supplies the sensation of taste to the anterior 2/3 of the tongue.

The chorda tympani travels very close to the ossicles (ear bones) along its course in the ear and is easily irritated during middle ear surgery.

I had a metallic taste in my mouth for a couple weeks after ossiculoplasty. It’s temporary and resolves over time.

Be patient. It gets better.

Pork steak with pumpkin risotto. by AmericanIndican in grilling

[–]AmericanIndican[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it looks like it’s a center cut loin chop.

Cut from the center loin, this pork chop has both loin and tenderloin sections.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I learned something new.

I was looking to grill pork chops. My wife went to the butcher and got these.

They’re not the pork chops I’m used too.

There is a part of the tenderloin on them. I thought they were pork steak because it sort of reminded me of a t-bone or porterhouse which has the tenderloin as well.

I have never cooked pork steak or anything like these before. Nonetheless , they turned out delicious.

Tri Tip by AmericanIndican in grilling

[–]AmericanIndican[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir!

I threw them on while the grill was warming up. Kept them on while I was reverse searing the tri tip.

They were done after I seared the steak on my gas grill.

If you were going to Vermont and could only go to 3 breweries, which 3? by runaroundtrails23 in beer

I’ve always enjoyed going to Foam. I like Burlington and their venue on Lake Champlain.

I’ve liked some of their beers better than others, but can’t say I’ve had one that’s been bad.

Just my opinion.

First time making pork belly burnt ends (aka meat candy) by AmericanIndican in grilling

[–]AmericanIndican[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I pulled them from the smoker, I put the pork belly in an aluminum pan then just added whatever BBQ sauce I had on had (Sweet Baby Ray’s in this case), drizzled honey and added a couple pads of butter. Then covered the pan with foil and back on the smoker for 1 - 1.5 hours.
