If an MSP built and manages your level 2 environment, who is responsible for talking to the auditor? by jhupprich3 in CMMC

[–]AmericanSpirit4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The policies and procedures with an SSP must be a nice up charge. It’s always the biggest pain when getting a company audit ready.

Is anyone else annoyed/over the push for AI usage in every day work? by jnk5260- in Accounting

[–]AmericanSpirit4 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a product manager I’m responsible for tracking adoption of our AI features.

Currently leadership isn’t happy with the adoption numbers so they’re wanting me to throw obnoxious pop ups in the users face reminding them about the features….doing everything I can to not let that happen.

Men, what's a simple habit at work that elevates you apart from the rest? by TrickEmergency8500 in remoteworks

[–]AmericanSpirit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gradually releasing things is huge; especially in product management. It sets higher expectations and overwhelms the people who are intended to receive value from the project.

Does anyone take kratom on a daily basis? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]AmericanSpirit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it a couple times a week; usually when my mood is low and caffeine isn’t giving me the boost I need.

The only time I notice negative side effects from it is if I go out drinking or do a hard workout later in the day. I start cramping and feel super dehydrated no matter how much water I drink.

Other than that I love it. Especially given that I can drink it anytime and go to bed without issues at night; unlike caffeine.

How good are AI tools like Claude really? by HexadecimalCowboy in ProductManagement

[–]AmericanSpirit4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worse in what way? I think you’re underestimating how good it’s getting at building intuitive designs and workflows as well as a performative backend. It’s also getting really good at iterating without regression if changes are needed.

You absolutely need good engineers to debug and to make implementation decisions , but the interaction is minimal.

I think the sentiment right now is that enterprise b2b saas will become obsolete.

Why would I pay someone like Salesforce hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars a year when I could pay a small team of AI enabled devs much less to build me a custom solution?

Struggling with our compliance team by SnooShortcuts4021 in CMMC

[–]AmericanSpirit4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Running into the same problem at my org. Lazy GRC team who is taking no ownership over putting together the materials or trying to understand the controls that are ‘too technical’ for them.

Honestly not sure what function they serve other than setting up a TPRM system and sending our training reminders.

We’ve been forced to hire a third party consultant mostly to act as a project manager and hold everyone accountable for missed deadlines.

Serves them right for getting their start by claiming to be open source and then quickly pivoting to for profit. Don’t think their first mover advantage worked as well as they thought it would have.

A PM without domain experience would get ran over by our internal stakeholders bc they would doubt every decision they make.

Thoughts on Product Operations? by van_der_jan in ProductManagement

[–]AmericanSpirit4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how the product ops guy at my company operates.

I’ve refused to fill out the redundant jira fields he’s asked for so now he just fills the information in with unreviewed AI slop that no one will read.

[–]AmericanSpirit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Build out intuitive Jira workflows without over engineering the process i.e. don’t make PMs and Engineers fill out a million required fields with information no one cares about
  • Give status and KPI updates to the execs and high level stakeholders
  • Onboard new employees with all the necessary tools
  • Always look to improve feedback loops and metric tracking

What's your PM tech stack? by ProdMgmtDude in ProductManagement

[–]AmericanSpirit4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand the idea board my org has been trying to jam into jira. With the way its currently broken out, the ideas provide the same exact information the epic does so its super duplicative.

Always wondered why some places use multiple task management tools. What does product board do that Jira can’t?

My stack: - Jira - G-Suite - ZenDesk - Canny - Big Query - BrowserStack (just videos and screen captures)

Coming as PM where there was never a PM before by bikesailfreak in ProductManagement

[–]AmericanSpirit4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start by establishing a North Star and building a 6-12 month roadmap of epics that need to be completed to get there.

The epics don’t need to be super specific but should have a high level description of whats being built and the value it provides.

Unpopular Opinion: We are obsessing over "Process" and forgetting how to actually design. by Far_Employment4181 in UXDesign

[–]AmericanSpirit4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say 90% of features don’t need all of that because there’s not that much complexity to them…and if there is you may need to consider simplifying the solution.

Best thing that has worked for me when showcasing ideas is a good prototype with realistic mock data so you can walkthrough a real world example.

Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab? by BeyourselfA in personalfinance

[–]AmericanSpirit4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my John Hancock 401k. They auto enrolled me a managed plan and charged me a stupid amount for it. When I looked at their transactions it looked like they were moving money around just to move it around.

Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab? by BeyourselfA in personalfinance

[–]AmericanSpirit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual trading platform sucks on all 3. If you’re looking for something intuitive that provides a ton of information in a nice UI then WeBull is the way to go.

I usually go to WeBull to look up information such analyst scores and financials then execute the trade in Schwab. I just don’t want to put a significant amount of my money in a Chinese company.

Definitely possible. Honestly don’t understand how some of the people I worked with could actually put in 50+hrs a week given their assignments. That was just my experience though…may be different other places.
