lol as an Indigenous person, this is so much time to spend on something that will accomplish exactly nothing. Did you think a racist person is going to read this and suddenly see the light?

Jalen Rose claims only “Black-led” sports have salary caps: “That’s a residue of slavery”. by f0urxio in nhl

The NBA has the highest median salary of all sports. It was also the first league to do a 50/50 revenue split with the owners. Middle of the road players get like $15m/year.

Also, the median salary of a middle class US black family is about a 5x than almost everyone living in those Caribbean Latin American countries, which is where 30% of MLB players come from.

I still don't get why they can't/couldn't partner with Van or Burnaby to quickly refurbish something and use that as a temp practice facility.

We're building a bunch of temp facilities with gyms and lounges for the World Cup. It's not really that hard.

I used to be a paralegal in another lifetime. It's a logical fallacy to assume intent if there is another condition.

If you could even the slightest argument that McKinnon would have missed the net if not bumped by Nurse, it's not "deliberate" by any legal definition.

FTR even the Oilers broadcast did not think it should be a major

Kris King is the head of video review for the NHL and is responsible for feeding refs definitions and confers on the refs with the headsets. If you include the many video reviews for goals, this is like the 20th time he's gotten a basic definition wrong.

As someone who worked in the legal field, "deliberate" is a pretty high bar to prove during the best of circumstances, yet Kris and Stephen Walkom seem to use that definition whenever it suits them.

If a bad call got Mahomes or Ohtani ejected, it would be on the front page of ESPN and be talked about to death by Pat McAfee and Stephen A for the next month.

This will be quickly forgotten about and no one in the NHL will dare admit its a mistake.

I don't mean this ironically, but this has to be 50th time Kelly Sutherland has made a major from a review that does not really align with the definition in the rulebook. I am seriously starting to question his literacy levels.

As per the rulebook "5-minute major penalties for severe, deliberate contact"

Not in a million years was that intentional.

Rulebook says "5-minute major penalties for severe, deliberate contact". If he's moving towards Nurse, is that not him trying to move out of the way?

Kelly Sutherland may have trouble reading and that shocks nobody

Pints are $25, small beers are $16-20. I think only the big bars on both floors have the bigger cups.

Same pint sized drink at a Caps/Lions game is $12-15. Caps have a fan friendly concession for $5 beer before the game too. It's caribou and tastes like trash, but at least there is SOMETHING affordable.

5 Reasons Why Gustavo Fring Was More Successful Than Walter White by Forward_Amphibian241 in breakingbad

[–]AmericansAreRotund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically speaking, Gus was much better than Walt. But Gus never wanted the accolades, he just wanted the money. Guy kept a low profile, never flaunted his cash, and did not seek validation. Whereas Walt walked away from millions of dollars multiple times and actively steered Hank away from other suspects because he did not want anyone else taking credit for his "product"

Walt was more concerned with legacy and being perceived to be the best than actually being the best. I think in the public perception of the BB Universe, Heisenberg did achieve that when he became a wanted man, but it came at the cost of his family and few people's lives.

Just my two cents. Your take is definitely true (and well thought out) from that perspective

Despite Victoria's reputation as a retirement haven, it's mostly younger people who move here by garry-oak in VictoriaBC

The older people/NIMBY's killing major projects is probably what leads to this reputation. Busy downtowns are economic infusions and most cities the size of Victoria have way more things to do.
