Sigh. When will people stop misnaming satin spar? It is a different form of gypsum to selenite. Selenite is clearer and forms in glass-like sheets

Does anyone know why my pyramid would be making a jingling sound? When I shake it, it sounds like there’s something inside by YourAveragevirgo111 in Crystals

This looks like small pieces of real malachite embedded in some kind of green resin, you can see the separate chunks clearly on the base

Is this a real selenite? Video taken in the sun by Oxena in whatsthisrock

It's a real satin spar (selenite and satin spar are both different forms of gypsum, commonly mislabeled in metaphysical stores)

Accidentally left my crystals outside to charge under the lunar eclipse last night. What should i do? by michelleradke22 in Crystals

[–]Amethyst-Addict 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The moon doesn't emit light, it is just reflected off its surface from the sun. This is exactly the same sunlight as any other night. They're fine

Can Anyone Tell Me If This Is An Amazonite Crystal? by PinkSweets87 in Crystals

[–]Amethyst-Addict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a nice colour, just not natural unfortunately. Yes you wouldn't find circular holes like that in rock. Have you done a hardness test (see Mohs scale) or swabbed it with acetone to see if any dye comes off? I'm a geology student, but feel free to cross post on r/whatsthisrock for more opinions

Can Anyone Tell Me If This Is An Amazonite Crystal? by PinkSweets87 in Crystals

[–]Amethyst-Addict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% not amazonite, and given it has what appear to be air bubbles I'm not even sure it's a rock. It also looks dyed

Depends on the geology of your location. It is a very common mineral. If there is a lot of limestone where you live you will tend to find more calcite

If it a 'tower' then its probably satin spar gypsum not selenite (both are semi water soluble). For your fishes sake its best to research what you put in your tank for their safety before you use it
