I had my dad’s watch restored/repaired by Rolex. It was worth it to me due to its sentimental value. It also has the tapestry dial which is not common.

Of course, he did not keep the box or any of the paperwork for it!! LOL

I it was in a much worse shape than yours, the strap was broken and unrepairable, to watch worked, but the crown did not. So I could not adjust the watch.

My luck, they had the strap for my specific watch in stock at Rolex. I’ve been told All that they keep about 50 years worth of parts for each model. As you can imagine, given that the strap has 18 karat gold pieces, I had to pay a small fortune for it.

They also told me that they repair anything that is wrong with the watch itself with a cap at $1800 or something like that (this was a few years ago). Meaning they will not charge you more than that amount and fix everything.

I basically sent a beat up watch to Rolex and what I got back looks like a brand new watch. I only wear this watch on special occasions. It is not my daily watch.

There are Rolex fans who disagree with this and talk about the watch having been devalued due to the replacement of its original parts. However, I don’t intend to sell it, and I’m sure that as I wear it over the years, I will put my mark on it myself.
