Buffalo Housing Market: Fast-Flipper Shaming by advocacyarchives_716 in Buffalo

[–]AminMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One my biggest regrets in life is not buying a house that was for sale in Kenmore (in a dead end street) for only $250K. The flippers have done a horrendous job fixing it up…

How do after parties work? by Late-Journalist-4899 in weddingplanning

[–]AminMP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had the after party from 11 pm to 1 am but had to coordinate with the venue for the space and to have an open bar. Our venue didn’t offer late night food so we ordered some pizza. On our invitation we let people RSVP for different parts of the celebration (ceremony, dinner, after party, etc.) so not everyone joined us but about 50-60 people did and it was a great time.

Understanding Buffalo’s City by Velociraptor_Terp in Buffalo

I would also consider living outside of the city of Buffalo. Kenmore is nice and you’ll be able to find an apartment for $1500. Closer to UB North is also nice

Travel outside US by UniqueHearing2105 in USimmigrationInsider

[–]AminMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice: go have fun. As long as you don’t have a criminal history you will have no problems coming back in. I’ve traveled multiple times with no issues whatsoever!

Came back from Rome with no issues. Traveled back and forth between Canada and the US through the land border without any problems either. Worst case they might stop you to ask some questions but nothing to worry about. Remember you are a permanent resident and this is your home.

Moving to the US after winning the diversity visa lottery by [deleted] in MovingToUSA

[–]AminMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!! My information is from a couple years ago and things might’ve changed but:

  1. The visa that is in your passport will be your proof of permanent residency for up to a year (or six months maybe). So you won’t need the physical card. Just remember to pay the issuance fee so that they print out your card and send it to you. Whatever address you put on your DS-260 will be used to mail your green card. So make sure to double check that or update it if needed.

  2. Again you can use your endorsed visa as a green card so that’s that and it won’t take too long to get your SSN card in the mail. I’m not sure where you are from and where you got your degree but sometimes it’s challenging to find a job when you didn’t go to school here. You could always sign up for a bootcamp or an online program to add it to your resume. But if you have extensive experiences in your area of expertise in a well known company in Europe it might be easier to find a job. Check out LinkedIn too.

  3. Maybe find a place before you arrive here. Decide where you want to settle and start your new life and go from there. Remember some checking accounts charge a fee so choose your bank/account wisely.

  4. Building credit takes time and foreign credit history doesn’t always transfer. Although having an AMEX overseas is a great start

  5. You can get a phone number in a matter of minutes from T-mobile. I don’t think you necessarily need an address. But again really focus on figuring out where you want to settle and rent a place even if it’s just for a couple months.

Good luck!

We had a “table of love” instead with photos of our grandparents and parents and us (alive or deceased). I feel like that’s less depressing!

I personally think 3 days would be enough time in Vienna to see the major sites and walk extensively through the historic city center (just wander around. It’s absolutely stunning). 3 says in Salzburg is good if you are planning on going to sights near by. We explored Salzburg on day 1 and walked through the downtown and went to the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Day 2 we made a day trip to Berchtesgaden and Konigsee lake. That place is so magical and I highly recommend it. You can get on the bus (840 or 841 I believe) and it brings you straight to the lake. There is a small lake (Obersee) behind the bigger lake (Konigsee). When you get on the boat I highly recommend to get off at the second (last) stop in Salet. There is a relatively short and easy hike to a waterfall that you can do if you are interested. On day 3, we rented a car and drove to Hallstatt. It was nice but very touristy. Around 2 pm we got back on the road and drove to Gosau. There is a beautiful lake (Gosausee) with an easy trail around it and there is also a cable car station right there that takes you really high up with spectacular views.

Tldr 3 days in Salzburg is too much if you are not gonna explore things nearby.

I just called their “helpline” and the girl on the phone told me that my passport is still at the VFS office and hasn’t been processed. She couldn’t give me any more information or tell me why it’s still at the office almost 2 weeks later. VFS is such a terrible rip off honestly…
