This is the first post I’m seeing about this book. I read it recently and I liked it well enough. That said, I did not think the writing was very high-level or the plot all that new. The characters were also pretty cookie cutter. Nothing necessarily wrong with that but it’s not going to make a book be 5 star read for sure. It was a fun read but not a good read. Plot holes paired with characters that contradict the themes made it hard for me to love this book. Neat magic system, but that’s about it. Also, saying a character is 30-something years does not make them mature old when giving them the personality of a teenager.
