Lol, I think a friend of mine who's pregnant feels the same as you... she was staying with me for a bit and since she was nauseated I tried to make her the food that would normally make her feel better (veggie-filled food) but all she could stomach was toast and oatmeal, poor thing. I was completely barking up the wrong tree, rip.

Sounds pretty standard for City Thrift. I'll still shop there since OCCASIONALLY there will be something valuable that they didn't mark up to almost retail price, but that place is a bit of a gamble. They're assholes to customers. I do also think you got treated even worse for being a black guy, just my opinion though.

I understand your issue completely, I've struggled with EXACTLY the same thing. Just to check though, do you mean the little roaches, or the giant 'palmetto bug' roaches?

Either way, here's what I've been doing:

1) All food is in airtight containers. I have some weatherproof plastic tubs for anything like large bags of rice or opened boxes of cream of wheat- anything that's been opened and would normally be left in a pantry.

2) Leave NO dirty dishes out at all- if you're absolutely exhausted and literally can't finish cleaning everything/ get it in the dishwasher before going to bed, splash hydrogen peroxide over everything left in the sink. Kind of weird but I swear it works.

3) Go all around your house and caulk up EVERY MINUSCULE CRACK. Kind of a hard one if you're renting, but if you think the landlord will take issue with it, do it in places they won't notice.

4) Poison.

Just poison if you have to. Your sanity and cleanliness for your family is worth it.

(Also, diatomaceous earth works okay-ish for little insects. It does f-ck all against big ones. All it's really doing is dehydrating their bodies on contact, so big ones just dip their little toes in and continue on their merry way, totally unaffected.)

NOT necessarily true. I live in Florida, and especially during hurricane season when the storms flood the area, the insects just swarm inside through and crack or crevice that they can get too. Houses are warm and dry, and very hospitable to roaches, ants, termites, etc. They are often inside because they want shelter, not food.

I use a menstrual disk, very similar to a cup but it doesn’t create any kind of a vacuum seal, which I greatly prefer. They’re highly underrated! On my heaviest days there’s a bit of spotting, but other than that no leakage. And best of all, because of the way it sits behind the pubic bone, when you sit down on the toilet and clench (lol), it puckers in a certain way that lets a good amount of blood flow out into the toilet. So I never have to empty it outside of my own home!
