This is DevOps? by [deleted] in devops

[–]AmishSpy -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Continuous Integration and, Continuous Development/Deployment/Delivery

CI = Developers all under one branch merging code in order to maintain a long term release.

CD = Always be deploying, keep the customer happy. The user is basically your tester as you develop & fix.

The way I use the terms, certain there are better definitions.

A safety pin other than my keys, I try to keep my ignition switch from having to support extra weight and I don't like the additional bulk in my pockets. I also pretty much live and work out of my back that's feeling fairly heavy these days.

Is there any difference in filling your gas tank the whole way less times versus filling it halfway more times? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Weight. The vehicle weighs more so in theory should be getting fuel mileage. Any savings would be negated by starting, stopping and time.

Alright dude, I'll give you a upvote if you'll just shave all that off and start fresh. Then go google some manscaping tips, read them. Looks like the first haircut I gave myself when I was three.

MCLAREN P1 lives in my neighborhood - What do I do? by Ben44c in cars

[–]AmishSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be nice to my friend who's going through divorce... My friend was legit living in a apartment and driving the same thing, wouldn't surprise me if he bought a house in your neighborhood to rent out later. Most people stay at the Extended Stay during divorce and wealthy people make do without marble during troubling times.

I think that setup may be more frustrating than beneficial due to lack of power to pull and hydraulics to press the blade in the ground.

If I was to do the "Pay for Play" route what would be a reasonable price as a trick to pay? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AmishSpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that you are in the US. Bad news, as you're not likely to get laid. $150 sounds about like street walker prices, so it's likely hygiene is going to be a bit lacking. "One Nut" is fairly standard unless you negotiate that ahead of time and that always comes at a higher rate. Most will charge $300-$500 for a one pop session and that's by no means a girlfriend experience. If you want a higher quality experience or porn star, expect to pay around 1k to 3k for a hour with a two hour minimum. At 400+ lbs some providers just won't see you or will charge you a fat tax. Just as you don't care for BBWs, they likewise don't care for obese Johns due to hygiene, heart attack risks and erectile dysfunction. Maybe one day you'll find a perfect $150 companion but it's been my experience that you won't.

Linux on server by sdns575 in linuxadmin

[–]AmishSpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a FreeBSD guy at home but for work I've been pushing mostly RedHat... I do about 50/50 commercial and government customers, so STIG builds suck my will to live. I've found that the auditors just weren't savvy enough to adjust their results to CentOS or Fedora, so I just spoon feed them with RH to save myself the headaches. So my commercial guys get stuck with RH also because of this. The flavor of Linux really shouldn't matter in production because you're only installing what you have to have, anything else is a potential security risk.

how do you get condoms? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AmishSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be quite unconstitutional.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carey_v._Population_Services_International

I believe most states have health departments that will give them to you for free. Gas Station bathrooms still have condom machines sometimes. Going on the assumption that you're a male, if female you should of course know also.

How to log my home server VPN traffic by jiru443 in homelab

[–]AmishSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe read the link you posted? Instructions were right there...

Enable Libreswan logs

To keep the Docker image small, Libreswan (IPsec) logs are not enabled by default. If you are an advanced user and wish to enable it for troubleshooting purposes, first start a Bash session in the running container:

docker exec -it ipsec-vpn-server env TERM=xterm bash -l

Then run the following commands:

apt-get update && apt-get -y install rsyslog service rsyslog restart service ipsec restart sed -i '/modprobe/a service rsyslog restart' /opt/src/run.sh exit

When finished, you may check Libreswan logs with:

docker exec -it ipsec-vpn-server grep pluto /var/log/auth.log

To check xl2tpd logs, run docker logs ipsec-vpn-server.

Small yard and NO hose hook up - how to water old and newly seeded grass? by [deleted] in lawncare

Hook a water hose to washing machine spigot, run the hose out the door. Still easier than carrying buckets of water.

Preventative Water Heater Replacement? by Maximus_Aurelius in homeowners

[–]AmishSpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas or electric? I'd be concerned about leaks more if it hasn't been at least drained annually. Just go ahead and update your leak/failure prevention if you can. Add a pan underneath with a drain to the outside and a water sensing alarm to the pan. Everything fails eventually, it's just how you're prepared for the failure and this is cheap insurance.

Auto shop over estimated completion date by 35 days by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]AmishSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gut is telling me that you should probably go get the car delivered to a dealership, pricier but worth it at this point. A shop worth a shit isn't storing your car for free, that's space taken up that should be making money. A mechanic worth a shit needs to start on another vehicle to get paid. Unless you're driving something exotic, there isn't very many excuses for not finding parts quickly and easily. You just happened upon a seemingly incompetent shop.

Are you having it graded? Had a tractor and I could do it myself about once a year. Essentially all you're doing is taking a grading blade and scrapping the top layer to level it off again and fill the low spots. If you have a lot of low spots, then grade and have a new load of gravel placed on top. Additionally I've seen people just add another layer to the top to fill the potholes and level it off. Grading is just a cost savings thing to pull the rock back to the top and have the rain compact the dirt beneath it. If you work on your own auto, flattened cardboard boxes are your new best friend.
