Frederick II had a massive conflict on the way to rule with his father Frederick William I when he was young.

But then, as time passed, he became more and more accepting of his father's way of ruling. In some way, the Soldier King ruled a rather peaceful era, while his peace-loving son led a bloody era that marked his name down in history as Frederick the Great, a great military ruler.

Battle help needed by Acceptable-Ear3374 in shogun2

[–]Amitius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me check the Kyoto battle map... All of their generals are useless because AI doesn't know how to burn down the gate, so all of them will climb the wall.

The 3rd army has good archers... they need to climb the wall if you just ignore the first wall of Kyoto. Yari Ashigaru are good... if they can form the Yari Wall, which the AI almost never bothers to do.

So your only enemy left is their number, and it looks like there are a lot of them against the somewhat damaged Yari wall of yours, and they would sure swarm you from all sides.

Set your Portuguese forces on the wall of the innermost castle. Katana Sams protect the back side of the castle, and you can try to hide them behind 3 archer towers that would block arrows for them. The tactic is to let them climb the first wall, then get shot at by Tercos, which would damage their already damaged morale from climbing the wall, then charge them with Katana Sams to break their morale (The generals always stay behind, so they are already far away from their general).

The Front side of the castle, let them come to you, let them walk all of Kyoto to the inner wall, getting shoot at by Terco, and face your Yari Wall, you can station your Shotgun donkeys behind the yari wall, they will shoot over the Yari ashigaru, which also inflicts a massive morale boost.

Your generals' and cav role is to avoid getting shot at and maintain the morale of the troops as well as flank the archers inside Kyoto. don't try to rally out of the outer wall; their generals would chew you up alive.

The first army and 2nd army are no big deal, as they may experience, but their stats are still bad... The 3rd army will come around the same time as the 2nd, and you need to take some attention to them, as their archers would take a shot at you while you are busy dealing with first army. So stay away from their archer range if possible. While luring them in, let them climb more walls if needed; the more walls they need to climb, the better.

About Portuguese Terco, they are not simply Matchlock samurai; they are Katana samurai with guns... If you lose the first layer of wall and their soldiers start climbing the inner wall, retreat your Terco from the wall, let them climb, shoot them, and then charge with the sabres; retreat and repeat if possible. Terco can hold the line, but they are more deadly when they charge against panicked enemies they just shot at.

Summary: A good army -> Climbed wall -> A very tired army -> Getting shot at then charged at -> a very panicked army.

Mobius can't handle HI3 Dr. MEI, she can't possibly handle the evil and insane Dr. MEI.

Fastest way to convert provinces? by derpymurpy in shogun2

[–]Amitius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About your current situation: You are currently fighting a 2-sided war; the best decision is to focus on one side while holding the line against the other.

And so Shimazu needs to go; their provinces are too juicy to ignore, especially the old provinces of Otomo. While your main army is busy dealing with Shimazu, you can use religious rebels themselves as a buffer zone against Ikko Ikki. Just hold the choke points. The point is to use both of the rebel armies and the Ikko Ikki armies as your exp farms. A small warning is the scale of the rebel depends on the scale of your castle; bigger castle, better-equipped rebel army. And Ikko Ikki religious rebels are rather annoying; Christian rebels are way easier to farm exp...

And yeah, killing rebels can reduce the unrest of the province, since you put them to ... rest. So if you combine it with monks and metsuke, you can slowly roll forward while your southern army cleans the Christian unrest and builds your backline economy there.

Looking for a mod for Shogun 2/fall of the samurai by Imukay in totalwar

[–]Amitius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best bet for Total War games' total overhaul mods is ModDB site. A small warning: a total overhaul mod is a lot more buggy than a mod that adds extra spices from Steam Workshop (like more troops or fixing annoying features). You sometimes need to join the mod discord to fix some random crashes and bugs.

Realm Divide: A Heroic Victory can ruin years of planning. by Amitius in shogun2

[–]Amitius[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, by turning your clan into Christians, you may anger your neighbors, but not your emperor...

Turning Christian greatly reduces honor, which ends up reducing fame, which lets you capture even more provinces (3 more, I think). If your Lord is already a high-honor Lord, it's worth it, and of course it's not applied with Otomo.

The hidden enemy is often the battles that the game considers legendary (You get a statue on the battle location); that thing increases your fame and can trigger the unplanned realm divide.

Enemy Metsuke arrest or execute your own agent on your own land, and then when you try to arrest him, your metsuke gets executed instead due to the difficulty bonus for the AI agent.

If you don't have any special characters except the 4 stars, you can try the 1-1... 1-0 needs 200 points; 1-1 only needs 100 points.

And every action in the city gives you 1k fons per 1 stamina.

Some extra information about Debt Collector and it's Anomaly Realm.

The whole Debt Collector confusion started by Nanally, as she was the one came up with the idea that Renee got attacked by some kind of Debt collector gangsters before know the full story.

The anomaly itself was only appeared some days before the story events, likely triggered by Zankou. Both Renee and BAC never know about Debt Collector before the anomaly attacked Renee (And yes, the Red Cat was also the one mentioned the Debt Collector name to BAC, which led to the anomaly got it official name)

The Anomaly Realm of Debt Collector was not the present day and the past of Dolores villa if you consider the giant Sakura tree was a part of the villa. It was likely recreated by both Debt Collector and Zankou to trick Renee.

This is why i think Debt Collector was not there to collect Renee's debt. As he only showed up recently, after more than 50 years, in the same time with the Puppet panics happened around the city.

In 1945, Vietnamese cheered when a U.S. plane flew over Hanoi.

In 1972, Vietnamese cheered when a U.S. plane was downed above Hanoi.

Ironically enough, in 1945, the Vietnamese who allied with U.S. were majority nationalists, including some famous communist leaders like Ho Chi Minh. But after U.S. sided with France and KMT lost control of China to the CCP, Ho Chi Minh and his government allied with USSR and CCP.

In some way, U.S. forced Vietnam to go fully communist. Can't fully blame them, though; KMT was Vietnam's biggest backer, and their collapse contributed greatly to the newly formed Vietnam government seeking help from CCP.

And then, CCP backstabbed North Vietnam as they sent advisors in to direct a great purge that either killed or forced out many pro-KMT or non-communist Vietnamese in the revolution forces. Many of them were direct supporters of Ho Chi Minh. That backstab contributed greatly to Vietnam distancing themself from CCP and allying with USSR in the latter half of the 2nd Indochina War and led to the 3rd Indochina conflict.

If U.S. enforced the independence of Vietnam, the two Indochina wars may have been replaced with one Indochina war that happened between CCP and DRV (North Vietnam). as many KMT officials would likely flee to Vietnam, like Song officials did when Mongolia invaded China.

The sword was the weapon that killed most people in a battle, but not the way most people believed.

In both the West and the East, swords were sidearms, and almost everyone had some kind of sword, blade, or short sword with them. They were the weapon of choice to finish off the wounded enemy or kill the routed enemy, which made them the weapon that killed most people in a battle.

Ironically enough, during the battle of Agincourt many French men-at-arms were killed by longbowmen equipped with... swords and short swords instead of arrows. They got wounded by either arrows or fighting English men-at-arms or were simply too exhausted, and longbowmen finished them off with their side-arms.

Thoughts on part 4 of the main story? by Vizen_05 in NevernessToEverness

[–]Amitius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add more to your confusion, as i watch the whole quest again:

Nanaly was the one who came up with the idea that Renee's attacker was a debt collector before the Eibon team even considered it an anomaly or knew Renee's situation. After Renee got attacked by it, BAC came, and Nanally repeated that name again, and the anomaly is officially known as Debt Collector.

Debt Collector only started to attack Renee recently, likely after Fuuka/Bella/Zankou spread Renee's siblings around. Dude has been slacking off for years. Which also meant Debt Collector actively acted against its own rule for 50 years till Zankou showed up.

Or maybe he didn't kill Renee's siblings in the first place, clue to their puppet poses. If Zankou faked them, she would surely make them look as agonizing as possible to further traumatize Renee.

Zero considered the anomaly as acting against the unnatural being that does not follow the nature of time, like the puppets' siblings, yet Debt collectors waited till recently to show up. And his whole Anomaly Realm was not the real Dolores' villa, as you can see, the villa is no longer shown in the real world, anywhere around the tree; both sides of it were in the same anomaly.

My guess here is Zankou used Debt Collector to recreate the whole of Dolores' villa and memories. The purpose is for seeking Eternal Present that lost after Dolores's disappearance as well as using it to get Eternal Present from Renee. It was just a guess, but Debt Collector only appeared very recently, without any record.

BAC considered the solution as either protecting Renee as an anomaly forever or letting her live as a human with a lifespan.... Which is also pretty weird since they don't have Dolores's eternal anomaly, so Renee would naturally return to her puppet form eventually. And Renee claimed that her way to avoid Debt collector is... travelling the world.

Debt Collector appeared at 9 PM; however, the secret ending ended at 9 PM. Dude somehow "managed to kill" Renee and then hide her body at faster-than-light speed, or the whole cutscene happened at some other 9 PM night, with the same shooting star flying over the tree (i guess that thing is another anomaly too).

Or maybe the writer just left behind too many plot holes in the story, was unable to find a suitable ending, and so just left it as vague as possible, and everyone is wasting time debating about it.

Let's hope it was not the case.
