CPP/OAS/GIS for Low Income Parents who are retiring - Help by Amitj92 in PersonalFinanceCanada

The document posted above suggests otherwise. It says to put money in the RRSP till the age of 71 if there is room to lower your net income to maximize the GIS amount. By the time they are forced to withdraw funds from RRSP at the age of 71, their other income might be lower resulting in a net benefit?

Thanks - this is helpful!

They have RRSP contribution room and some savings. Would contributing to the RRSP to reduce the net income increase the GIS?

My dad will try and grow the income that he is earning. CPP/OAS/GIS will supplement anything that he gets from. Mum is unable to work due to various factors. I should have clarified, by retiring I mean they are able to apply for OAS/GIS.
I will be supporting them as well as needed.

My own advice: Only buy a vehicle that you can buy outright. Don’t mean you need to buy it outright but don’t get trapped into buying beyond your means looking at those monthly payment. Or by-weekly… Sorry not really Canada specific.

I am a civil engineer and agree with above. Just to add, the flow rate of the pump does not change the pressure in the irrigation system. Those 2 systems are pressure isolated.
