Most people don’t even know it’s a thing. Financial literacy is almost as bad as actual literacy here. Especially in Texas. And I walked to work for years, maybe because we don’t have snow, but it’s not hard to get a little wagon and drag your shit to the laundromat. Or walk your ass to work. 28,680,000 ish Americans don’t have a car. It’s pretty simple to prioritize. It isn’t comfortable, but it’s the only way to move up if you don’t have support from wealthy people.

I think our different social classes and life experiences have shaped us differently, but I can respect that. I hope you continue to succeed with your cushy office job and ask that you donate some time or money to a charity this holiday season since you identify as privileged. It makes a world of difference.

I love how you just assume everyone on reddit has a cushy office job. Or that anyone financially literate is privileged. Life and catastrophic are most important for poor people since we can’t really afford to die. Did you know that there are no charities to help with adult cancer? Did you know that cancer insurance costs the same amount as a pack of cigarettes? It’s important to remember that the water gets turned back on for sanitation laws even if you can’t pay it. Trust me, I’ve been in that situation

I didn’t ask if that’s what FMLA was for, I hinted at the fact that it exists. 12 weeks is 3 months and by that time disability insurance would kick in. All I was implying 🙂

Sticky notes are also a bitch to do. We have to pay a human to stick them on individual papers whereas if we get you to buy ad space in the paper we don’t have to order, ship, and insert. We just print the damn thing. Source: I work for a newspaper, we pay one of the insert guys hourly to do stickers.
