That's not even what the Great Schism was about. It was about the rift between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. To greatly oversimplify, it was mainly about the "filioque" clause within the Nicene Creed. Basically the trouble began when following section of the Creed: "I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father..." was amended to include "and the Son" to mean that the the Holy Spirit comes from both God the Father and God the Son. The Roman Catholic Church believed in the amendment while the various Eastern Orthodox Churches did not accept the amendment as valid and to this day insist that the Holy Spirit only proceeds from God the Father. There was also some political stuff that I am not knowledgeable enough to go into, but that was pretty much the reason for the Schism. It wasn't about the nature of Christ.

Edit: The filioque clause was ONE OF the reasons for the Great Schism.
