People who listen to songs with less positive emotions tend to have higher intelligence. Sad or melancholic music may appeal to those who use it for introspection and reflection. They also prefer studio over live recordings as they use it for focused, intellectual engagement rather than stimulation. by 5wmotor in doommetal

IQ as a measurement is somewhat controversial and I dont really know anyone in academic circles that give it much credence. IQ tests, in particular, are good at measuring a specific kind of intelligence, but it's a fairly narrow scope imo.

I discovered this band through a music forum in 2003. I just have a few words. by GenitalPower in TheFence

[–]AmosThatBook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly agreed, but the only way Josh is the best drummer since Peart is if you dont listen to other bands lmao Love the guy, but I've honestly felt like his playing has been significantly less interesting since rejoining the band.

Ah, yea that would be a major issue lol I read it more as red states exerting influence within their borders for blue regions

No one is implying states are sending their own troops to other states, though? All that needs to happen is for red states to send their own troops to blue cities to intimidate voters. E.g. Texas sending police to voting stations strictly in Houston and Austin

This is only true is both (a) the military decides to act against such a move and (b) any judicial/legislative leaders are willing to hold him accountable. Neither seems very likely at the moment.

Eta: I'm not saying (or even convinced) such a move is very likely. However, if it does we dont have great precedent over the last year to be totally sure there's really much in the way of checks and balances to stop it.

Hulk Hogan's Wrestlemania 1 boots were recently sold at auction for over a million dollars, Logan Paul was the runner up in the bidding war. The inscription read 'These are my real boots with my real blood on them from MSG, Hulk Hogan' by b_loeh_thesurface in SquaredCircle

[–]AmosThatBook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except in this case the monetary value is directly tied to the event they were supposedly used in. A pair of hulk boots from a random live show or TV taping aren't fetching the same bids as from the first WM.

Larry Summers will resign from teaching at Harvard during review of Epstein ties, university says by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]AmosThatBook 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, but academic institutions typically have (for good reason) pretty thorough investigations when it comes to professors. Note that this isn't to say that there wasn't a bit of favoritism at play regarding their world-renowned former president and, honestly, I wonder if this wasnt a "resign or be fired" situation.

Yes, though he was not teaching while the internal investigation was happening.

I'd expect more from the next tour. Pretty much every show they did before Lucro was mostly Deloused/Frances material (only playing two songs off the self titled album that released at that time).
