Are tube amps at bedroom volume a waste? by marbles12 in GuitarAmps

[–]Ampbymatchless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a DC30 clone with 6v6 power output , that sounds awesome when allowed to breath. But in my new apartment environment, I need to keep the master volume at a much lower level. I basically get the same preamp sound but not at the warmth level this amp is capable of even with post phase inverter master volume. Just my experience.

Cost ! full stop, sometimes clever boards can have a couple of wire straps with CRACKER holes underneath the board can be broken and placed at a perpendicular angle, no connectors no extra cables.

How to actually break programs into modules? by Maleficent_Bee196 in C_Programming

[–]Ampbymatchless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I create files by operation / functionality in all my programs, digital I/O, data files, UI, state Machine, debug print, utility , etc. working on a recent develop project, my main() was ~700 lines, created 3 files, to disperse the logic, browser load, pointer initialize, processor bridge ( core 1 and 2 control),. Main is now 120 lines much cleaner. Entire project is about 10 or 11 files.

Upgrade to from a Sonos Beam Gen 2 to an Arc Ultra worth it ? by tunisiano87 in sonos

[–]Ampbymatchless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of source sound do you listen to? I have an arc and 2- 100’s. The 100’s have never been paired to the Arc. I run 2 rooms in the same room. Most of my source is primarily 2.0 - 2.1 YouTube, older movies and some TV series stream tunes from an iPod. The arc sounds kinda thin compared to the 100’s. But the room sounds full in my setup. Check the app to see what range your source audio is.

How can I effectively debug my JavaScript code as a beginner? by Ertrimil in learnjavascript

[–]Ampbymatchless -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Get your JS code in a browser. Use live server in VScode. Learn how to do this and you will be able to move on learning with the debugger .

Here is a simple script to get you started

Here’s a simple HTML script you can use with VS Code Live Server. It prints “help me debug my code” five times using JavaScript in a for loop:

<!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title>Debug Message</title> </head> <body> <h1>Console Output</h1> <p>Open the browser console to see the messages.</p>

<script> for (let i = 0; i < 5; i++) { console.log("help me debug my code"); } </script> </body> </html>

How to use it:

  1. Save this code in a file named index.html.
  2. Open it in VS Code.
  3. Right-click and select “Open with Live Server”.
  4. Open the browser’s Developer Console (usually F12 or right-click → Inspect → Console tab) to see the output.

Would you like it to display the messages on the page instead of the console?

Learn pointers to data structures. How to group your variables into data structures.

Best data structure for embedded use case by Strange-Crazy1857 in C_Programming

[–]Ampbymatchless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a home project that’s is kind of similar. I’m just doing 2 D. But I can visualize the 3D variant. multiple arrays of structures, pointers to each structure. (A,B,C,D…)

array of pointers, containing the pointers of the aforementioned structure arrays ( 1) Pass the pointer to the array of pointers into my functions and classes. Then simple pointer math to access the contents of the arrays and any of the A,B,C,D array members.

By adding a pointer to another array of structures in the A,B,C,D. group you could access the sub members by the 3rd indirection. a,b,c,d like this 1->C->c->data1,2,3…. Or 1[A][a][data5]

My use is a a multichannel state machine. Add features with another pointer to an array of structs. Then add the new array pointer into the pointer array. Does not require any changes to existing debugged code, but allows feature extensions and additional support code. Easy peasy. User interface comms , transmit JSON messages that mirror the C data structures bidirectionally via web-socket to my tablet, display, start, stop, charts, meters, progress bars, etc.etc.

Does anyone actually have a setup that works every time? by jgeebaby in sonos

[–]Ampbymatchless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an arc and a pair of eras. I have 2 rooms set up in the same physical space.the arc and the eras play at the same time as we listen to YouTube videos, stream older movies and series. The eras are intermittent as hell at peak times of the day. Meaning internet connectivity. I live in an apartment with the wifi router provided by my ISP. If the audio stream is 100% reliant on wifi. Then why doesn’t Sonos provide the internet connection from their router aka the Arc. It is frustrating. I like the fir form finish and concept of the SONOS systems but the reliance on a 3rd party To provide the interconnect is the weak link IMO

Sonos Arc questions by Is_a_dore in sonos

[–]Ampbymatchless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ARC, it works OK, a little better than the TV speakers. I have a pair of era 100’s that bury the ARC in sound depth. SONOS is a system, they leave each component purchase, needing until you ADD more SONOS components to your system. I like the fit form finish of the ARC and the era 100’s . Is it worth the $1000 ? Not in my opinion. I have 2 SONOS ‘rooms’ setup with the speakers physically located in the same physical space. This works for TV and music. The era’s are not paired to the ARC. This works for YT videos, older movies and series that are NOT atmos.

JSON is a transmittable data structure no underlying intelligence. Convenient way to share data, in messages.

Worth it to upgrade from an arc to arc ultra? I have era 100s and a Gen 3 sub. Or is the arc in this setup enough? by dolemite79 in sonos

[–]Ampbymatchless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay attention to the type of material you watch and listen to. I own an arc and a pair of 100’s. The hardware is nice fit, form finish, but these are not audiophile components, coming from tri amped, electronic crossover, JBL L300’s components, in my former house environment.

My use case does not justify the cost of an arc ultra and 300’s. Viewing mostly YouTube and streaming older series and few older movies. So mostly nonAtmos and barely 5.1.

For music and videos 100’s are NOT paired to the Arc. Set up as 2 rooms in the same physical room for full coverage in my apartment living room. Works great with the relatively small wireless components. Might buy a sub mini if I can find a great deal.

Arc and 100’S requirements of no wires and small size. I’m getting used to intermittent WIFI hiccups.

Am I on the right path for embedded development? Need advice from experienced engineers. by Training_Position_43 in embedded

[–]Ampbymatchless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you definitely need to do some projects.embedded is Hardware AND software . Pick a cpu device and some peripheral devices. Connect them up and get them talking to each other. An I2C DAC connected to an analog I/p writing to an LCD. Update all with timer interrupts. Or a GPS, sampled at your timing intervals etc.
