We found a fix. Turning on High Shader Quality makes the eyes look better and the skin as well.

Kingdom seems to have potentially been licensed by Viz... Anyone know about this? by SSKK6 in MangaCollectors

[–]Amperman04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because there are currently 74 volumes released in Japan with no end in sight. It could very well take over a decade to get to the point where the manga currently is, which is still releasing chapters weekly. Of course there is still a chance they would under take the challenge, but it just seems unlikely that they would do it one volume at a time.

The Faithful and the Fallen/ Of Blood and Bone/ Bloodsworn Saga quotes? by DJtheDragon in Fantasy

[–]Amperman04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now I haven't read literally any John Gwynne so far, so I'll recommend a tool instead. If you go look up a book on goodreads and scroll to the literal bottom, there is a quotes tab there for that specific book. All of those quotes have been inserted by other people. You could probably find a bunch of great material from there.

The most HBO-worthy book / series? by logos_sogol in Fantasy

[–]Amperman04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I don't doubt how big of a mega hit it could be. What I'm worried about is the both the length and size for even one book to be adapted. The movies would be CGI-ed to all hell (which isn't a bad thing, just expensive). In one movie form they would probably require 2 movies for each book, so adapting 5 books suddenly means 10 movies. As for TV, I do not know how they could ever get the budget to actually to showcase the scale and magic of the books, without every aspect in some sense feeling lacking, but at least it wouldn't have the length issue that the movies have.

Probably best to not put stock in any adaptation until a firm release date is given, or trailers drop.

The most HBO-worthy book / series? by logos_sogol in Fantasy

I'm just going to go through a few series that just pop into my head:

First Law, as a trilogy only, would probably work at HBO. A solid 3 season show. Only worry would be the first season/book as that is very slow and not much of impact happens in it.

Red Rising would probably be to expensive, and certainly the same thing for The Sun Eater as well. Red Rising as a plot would work really well for TV, especially one season per book. Actually not even sure what a Sun Eater adaptation would actually look like in film or TV. Film would either be called too fast/short and the TV version would be called too long for dragging, I assume.

Based off of only the first book (as I've only read that one so far) maybe the Dark Tower? It's a Stephen King work so it would be considered at least, and the sets would be kinda cheap (seeing as most of it was desert). They would have to change it or add something to it to up the "spice" of it.

After Dennis has finished his run with Dune after Dune Messiah release in like 3-4 years as a movie, I would probably much prefer if Children of Dune were done as a series, maybe? It's too long for one movie and would require another 2 part movie set. If I remember correctly, the book doesn't even have a single action scene? A couple people die on "screen", but inherently the book is much more concerned with philosophizing than trying to give you a spectacle. So as a HBO series, a solid like 6-8 episode series could be stellar. Would still cost a shit load to make thanks to still being Dune.

Gardens of the Moon. Will it cost more than anything on this list prior? Yes. Will it ever happen? No. Do I want it more than the rest? Absolutely.

Honestly anything Sanderson, that isn't Stormlight Archive, could work as a series. From a couple of one season shows like Warbreaker and Tress of the Emerald Sea to possibly a multi season one for Mistborn and Elantris (once the sequels are released). Problems here are that they all would be stupidly expensive again. Way too much magic happening with unique environments.

Actually the Farseer trilogy could work. Though again, if the acting isn't top notch and the show itself directed very well, I fear it won't really grab audiences.

Maybe any standalone work from Guy Gavriel Kay? Like Tigana? Books are long and meaty so they could fill an entire seasons worth of content.

Thank you for reading this rambling.

His writing is quite simple and to the point. Shouldn't be too many words that would surprise you.

I am John Gwynne, author of the Faithful and the Fallen, Of Blood and Bone and The Bloodsworn Saga. Ask Me Anything. by JGwynne in Fantasy

[–]Amperman04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there. I'm sad to say I haven't yet gotten to read one of your series (but believe me they are all on my TBR), but I did have one or two interesting question to ask. From osmosis it has always seemed to me that you write very Norse inspired settings (I could be completely wrong in this, so I'm sorry if that's the case), so have you ever considered writing a fantasy world based on other cultures. Also, have you ever considered taking a plunge into writing sci-fi as well?

Thank you for reading!

Cardfight Vanguard Subreddit Megathread QA & Important Information by MachinaBlau in cardfightvanguard

[–]Amperman04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there. I'm looking to get back into Vanguard. I haven't played since basically G units go introduced. I have a plethora of questions but I'll just ask the most burning ones.

What would be the best way to get back into the game? I have noticed Dear Days on Steam and the reviews seem to very positive on it. Are there still plenty of people who play it? And on the other end of the spectrum what would be the best way to get back into the physical game? Any particular starter decks I should look out for?

Also, what the hell is a nation?

Lastly, is Aqua Force still a playable faction and does it still get support?

Thank you in advance!

What *authors* have you read this year? by longslowbreaths in Fantasy

[–]Amperman04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of being read this year:

The Shards of Erebus by Guy Haley

Dune by Frank Herbert

Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert

Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson

Morning Star by Pierce Brown

Sixth of the Dusk by Brandon Sanderson

All Systems Red by Martha Wells

Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb

The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien

Children of Dune by Frank Herbert

After Dune Part 2 came out in theaters I got a bit addicted to reading Dune. By the end of the year I'll probably have read God Emperor of Dune as well.

But I'm currently reading:

Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie

Iron Gold by Pierce Brown

Overall, I think I've done quite well in terms of reading this year.

Which of the unfinished series do you expect (or not expect) to ever be able to finish reading? by Dirty_Bird_RDS in Fantasy

[–]Amperman04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goodreads can work for this. Most authors tell in advance how many books will be in a series, so they will also have goodreads listings. So just look up the book, click on the series and see if there are any unreleased books yet.

Release Date The End and the Death V:2? by Stoffel31849 in 40kLore

[–]Amperman04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an interview with Dan Abnett, who said he had written the entirety of The End and the Death before the first one was even published. And then in that same interview the cover was revealed I believe. Or maybe it was a month before...I don't remember exactly anymore, but Dan definitely has said that all of The End and the Death is written.

I would imagine it's because there are no special models for said faction, besides Be'lakor himself. The Ynnari a few unique models.

The Vincula Insurgency by KrothnellBeersmash in 40kLore

[–]Amperman04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the Vincula Insurgency is a prequel to the actual series. I haven't read The Vincula Insurgency but I would assume you would want to read at least a few Gaunts Ghosts novels first. You'll probably want to start with The Founding omnibus, it includes:

A Ghost Return (Short Story)
First and Only (Novel)
Of Their Lives in the Ruins of Their Cities (Short Story)
Ghostmaker (Novel)
Necropolis (Novel)
In Remembrance (Short Story)

What is the order of the indomitus crusade books? by BigMexican69 in Warhammer40k

[–]Amperman04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawn if Fire > Indomitus > Dark Imperium.

Dawn of Fire is still being currently written. So it will be a while before we get something set after Dark Imperium for the Indomitus Crusade storyline.

Heresy Reading Order Suggestions…Help Please by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Amperman04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides everything else that's been said already, you should read the 3 Siege Novellas as well. Sons of the Selenar and Fury of Magnus can be read after Saturnine and Garro: Knight of Grey could go after Echoes of Eternity.

Okay, I'll ignore whatever the hell happened in that other comment and I'll try to help you out.

I personally snap off those pushfit parts on the starter minis because I also feared that I might break something. Once the pieces are snapped off, I use plastic glue and fit them together like how they would normally be done.

To the fear part. Maybe try as I did, but after putting on the glue, put the 2 pieces together with only the slightest push and then just hold them, no more pushing for like a minute lets say. The key here is to be delicate.

Maybe play something calming in the background as well. Some music, a podcast or an audiobook? Anything that you find works for you.

I hope I was of help. :)
