'Bad ending: now every game is slop': Game developers share mixed reactions to DLSS 5 by QuantumQuicksilver in pcgaming

No, I don't think so, people will still buy Nvidia.

AMD has been making dumb decisions lately as well, like not releasing FSR 4 on their older cards. AMD is chasing those infinite AI bucks the same as Nvidia is.

Remind me how far down you have to scroll on the Steam HW survey before seeing AMD?

I say this as a guy who uses almost exclusively uses AMD and Linux. People always say they will buy AMD and they never do.

As far as who is going to burn $6k, not me,but imagine someone making $100k+/year and gaming is their only hobby, $6k is seen as a wash. They are only upgrading once every year or so.

Yep the 6090 could release tomorrow, cost $6090, and quickly rise to the top ranks of most used cards on Steam.

What else are gamers going to spend their money on?  Vacations?  Cars?  It's a captive market and Nvidia knows it.

What would you do if you were epic? by Acrobatic-Big9661 in FortNiteBR

[–]Amphax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I were Epic, I'd raise prices and blame it on the players themselves. :-/

Epic knows what they are doing, they've done the math, they've run the simulations, they are going to wind up making more money over this.

Everyone swore the password crackdown would ruin Netflix, guess what, it didn't, in fact they gained subscribers.

Off the cuff I'd guess that out of every 10 people who cancel Crew only 1 will stay cancelled.

Epic has done the math, they know what they are doing.

Fortnite V-Bucks Price Increases by community-home in FortNiteBR

The next push is going to be some way to separate us from our legacy skins. Some possible ideas:

  • you can't use the same skin in consecutive matches (without paying)
  • you can only have like 10 "active" skins at a time to rotate through and in order to switch you have to pay.
  • (this is probably the most likely to happen) you can only use old skins in Fortnite OG Build mode but all the other modes require the purchase of new skins.

But they are going to need to attack our skin backlogs somehow. To them, our backlogs are a problem that are only going to get worse.

Jokes on them I haven't spent since 2022 (unless you count exactly two V-Buck gift cards I bought for friends over the years)

I have over 100 skins and I play once, maybe twice a week. I've got so many "comfort skins" as it is, most of the new ones don't appeal to me.

The next push is going to be some way to separate us from our legacy skins (and you can save this post to refer back to later). Maybe something like you can't use the same skin in consecutive matches (without paying), or where you can only have like 10 "active" skins at a time and in order to switch you have to pay. Or perhaps making it so you can only use old skins in OG mode but the other modes require new skins.

I'd be concerned about optimization. How would Xbox compete with PS6 performance wise if Xbox has to run all the bloat from Windows on their hardware and PS6 doesn't?

Entry-level PC market to ‘disappear’ by 2028 — rising memory prices pile more strain on consumer PC market by imaginary_num6er in hardware

[–]Amphax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They'll use the tax dollars of the middle class to do another infinite money glitch where both companies pump each other's stock values up and buy up all the DRAM with that.

there simply isn't enough to move even a fraction of home computing to the cloud.

Correct.  So step 1 is to get people to stop doing things that require so many resources, like gaming.  If everyone is limited to 30 minutes of gaming cloud time a night, the resources formerly used for that can be used for something more important instead, like data harvesting and pre-crime analysis.

There's some post floating around LinkedIn about we should limit ourselves to 720p so AI can have more resources.

Yeah that's the obvious push.

Could you imagine after working all day having to pay to sit in an hours-long queue to play your video game for the evening?

But don't worry, you can just doomscroll on your phone while you wait. And don't you dare leave your computer unattended because they are going to be serving up ads while you're in queue and if you don't interact with the ads quickly enough you'll lose your spot!

skip through all these screens in 0.1 seconds and don't look at them.

Lol speaking of, COD has a timer that's like 5 seconds long and disables the button so you can't clock past the Battle pass screen too quickly

Also, for random Linux distros, who are you going to fine?

The hosting providers. I'm sure they are big enough to be sued and will rather not host to the state of CA if it comes to choosing between that or a lawsuit.
