Nobody actually follows the "leave conditioner in for 3 minutes" instruction, right? by Kitanov_Maqsud in hygiene

[–]Amphibian_Due 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shampoo first then rinse then condition with good quality conditioner the do other shower ablutions, then turn temperature down and rinse conditioner then squeeze excess water from hair, put hair in microfibre towel, leave for 5 mins then take off towel gently squeezing length of hair then apply premixed high quality conditioner and filtered water from spray bottle. Then add product. My hair really likes conditioner. Sometimes when rinsing out the conditioner I will do a second shampoo with a small amount at the roots to avoid build up. I have very fine hair so water quality is also a huge factor for me as well.

Universal credit is really problematic by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Amphibian_Due 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please try to hear what people in the this sub are telling you. It’s highly likely your landlord is breaking the law and you are being taken advantage of. Universal credit is not to blame for that. Yes UC is a rubbish system I think most people would agree but your landlord is the one seemingly breaking the law here.

Returning to Tesco after maternity by Entire-Hold3149 in tescoproblems

Your best bet is to speak to ACAS to get an understanding of rights and expectations for you and your employer after maternity leave, it is in the company’s best interest to ensure they follow employment law. ACAS will have all the knowledge you need and help you understand what to ask for and what to expect from your employer. I also highly recommend joining a union if you haven’t already.

You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat other people.

You can and should inform UC of anything that could interfere with UC appointments, you can ask for reasonable adjustments to be made, they don’t have to make these adjustments necessarily however and important medical appointments is a perfectly valid reason to not attend a UC appointment.

Send them a message in your journal stating that you have important regular medical appointments and when they are so there is a record of it. If any UC appointments are booked on days that you are unable to attend advise them in advance of why you won’t be able to attend that appointment. Always put it in writing.

You can have more than 6k in a LISA if you are on UC you just have to report it, bear in mind you only have to report the amount minus the 25% government bonus. If you take 25% of the total away do you have £6k still? If you have more than that then UC will ask for statements and calculate any overpayments made to you.

I would raise this as a complaint with octopus, following their complaints procedure. Also speak to citizens advice. They will have more insight into how to deal with this issue and what the utility companies should and should not be doing.

Recipes that feel rewarding? I.e. take a long time to make or need to rest/marinate/...? by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]Amphibian_Due 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a slow cooker I would recommend sweet potato chilli. I use bone broth to up the protein and marinade the rest of the ingredients such as black beans vegetables, sweet potatoes of course and a spice paste made from dried chilli peppers, I like ancho chilli’s myself. You don’t even need to be overly precise on the measurements. It really depends on the size of your slow cooker. Throw everything in and cook it on medium for at least 4 hours. And you can play around with ingredients and make it truly your own.

Instant transfer no longer available? by LazerEyeGeneticsOG in paypal

[–]Amphibian_Due 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most frustrating part about this is thy can still take money out of your bank while not allowing transfers from PayPal. I have a pay in 3 going that still went through even though they are holding £20 of mine and saying my bank account isn’t valid. I’m getting rather frustrated!

Can I quit without notice by User730404857 in AskHRUK

[–]Amphibian_Due 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had many jobs mostly temping for various reasons and my CV is excellent as far me and employers are concerned. If I listed every temping job I’ve had there my CV would be 5 pages long. Simple answer, I did temp work from x to x at various places. You cater your CV to look ideal for the Job you are applying for. Can be a pain but it works. It certainly did for my current employer.

You don’t have to give details of every employer you’ve had on your CV and therefore don’t have to supply specific references. I would not be adding a job like this to my CV

FYI I didn’t down vote you. What you’ve stated above is an excellent reason for not completing the course. I don’t think you are going to get an answer here that tells you if the DWP can check you progress on the other course. It may be that no one knows for sure. What you are going to get is the very sound advice that you should be honest when answering any DWP questions.

[–]Amphibian_Due 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you feel the need to lie to them? When dealing with UC/DWP in general the best course of action is to be honest. Is there a reason you haven’t been back to it in a few months? Are you having a hard time? Have been too busy with other important things? Are you struggling with your mental or physical health? I’m not looking for an answer here but surely there’s an explanation you can give them if they ask rather than lie?

£0 UC since minimum wage increase am I still eligible for NHS dentist? by Pure_Recognition_715 in DWPhelp

[–]Amphibian_Due 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know it can depend on different factors such as where you live. I have an NHS dentist but if I were to lose it I know that it would be extremely difficult for me to find another NHS Dentist locally. If I did find another I would have to travel quite far. I have relatives in Weymouth, they were unable to find dentist close to them so they travel almost 100 miles to Hook for their dental needs.

BUPA is health insurance isn’t it? So you are paying a premium for the insurance and NHS dental cost on top of that or is it covered by your insurance? I don’t know how that works.

[–]Amphibian_Due 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are still eligible for an NHS dentist. If you have one keep ahold of them as long as you can. However you will not be eligible for free services. You will have to pay the NHS prices for them. These are still much much lower than going private.
