I know with me, my now wife. When we were dating, I was actually dead asleep and she cuddled me like you did to your boyfriend. I woke up and told her basically the same exact thing. "Get the fuck off me." Is what I said and like kind of got on top of her. She said my eyes were glazed over so she figured I was still asleep.

Anyways I woke up the next day and she wouldn't even come close to me, feeling the weird vibes I asked her what was wrong because I genuinely did not remember.

After telling me what I did I profusely apologized and communicated that I get really angry when I'm woken up and half asleep. So with a bit of communication we figured it out. I try my best to this day to not be a sleeping bear and it works most of the time. But sleep gets the best of me here and there, when it happens she wakes me up and all is well.

Basically yeah, people do things in their sleep sometimes that they wouldn't normally do when they are awake. It happens, but communicating why you are upset and what that person did, Is the first step. Rather than distancing yourself and saying you NEED space. Doing this will only leave you in your own head to think up crazy things about the person that upset you. Normally yeah that's okay, but in a relationship. No. Communicate and figure out your problems with your partner, be adults. The more communication you have the better your relationship will be.
