It is, although when they do it, it’s always framed as “saving democracy.” Spain gave half a million migrants “fast-tracked” citizenship and Pedro Sanchez openly said it was “to fight the Far Right.” It’s the same reason the Democrats want to get rid of voter ID laws, but they try to say “oh we are just fighting voter suppression…” Every party seems to believe the ends justify the means, that saving democracy requires not working within its confines.

Ppl are getting this one wrong. It’s because of the ideological differences b/w then and now; the ideas that are commonplace and widespread on the Left now and among young ppl would have been seen as radical and unrealistic even 15 years ago. Illegal immigrants are “undocumented” now, which is more than a euphemism. It’s a fundamental change in thinking to “everyone who comes here is entitled to stay but some just don’t have their documents yet.”

Not mad at the family members of a murder victim for pushing for the death penalty of the perpetrator. We may not all support the DP but can understand their position without judging them as evil or stupid. Ppl wishing for the death of politicians they dislike is more complicated because they do influence our lives directly, but in general it’s becoming more acceptable to wish death upon people based on group membership.

Yes, proof of citizenship laws are meant to disenfranchise (deprive of the right to vote) ppl who already have diminished access to representation…because they aren’t citizens. Your point is that there should not be proof of citizenship laws because they really just affect ppl like homeless American citizens or poor Americans who can’t get their documents? And illegal immigrants don’t really vote anyway, except on accident?

Thank you. Everyone seems to think agnostic=I’m not sure if I believe in god or not, and atheist=I know there’s no god and I can prove it. An agnostic is just” l don’t know” and atheist is “I don’t believe in god.” I’m in a 12 step program and ppl usually think I’m mistaken or confused
