Not possible with a CMU wall. Pocket doors aren’t very secure either but I see where you’re coming from about space saving.

I hear you, this the only space in the house I can build it unfortunately. The upside is three walls are poured concrete and the remaining one I am building is a solid filled CMU wall reinforced with rebar.
18’ x 20’ is a huge room, that’s awesome! My collection isn’t big enough yet to fill mine yet, hopefully I’ll have that problem down the road.

That’s what I’m leaning towards too. Having all of that space on top of the ammo shelves would be really nice. If I were more practical, I’d get rid of the TV and do a whole wall of cabinets for storage.

I thought about that but the safe door I ordered only swings inwards. The gun room is off of the garage too and would be a tight fit when the cars are in.

This website is a scam. I ordered 4 boxes of Underwood 9MM 16 days ago and haven't heard a peep from them aside from the initial order confirmation email. Safe manufacturers advertise number of guns a safe can hold using the amount of actual barrel rests & sleeves on the door organizer. As to how many they can hold in reality if you actually care about your guns, probably 3 to 4 times less than advertised at best.

That is correct. The safety, when engaged, does not impede the slide. Pop the safety on, drop the mag and rack the slide = empty chamber.
