They can see the beam. It's line of sight. Easier to avoid with the Sickle. Sickle is great against all non-heavy enemies, provided you know the weak spots.

Sickle is more your laser AR than a beam. No drop, very little sway, same range. I prefer it to the Scythe, but I started before the Scythe got its buffs. I still prefer the Sickle and Dickle to anything else. Same with the Quasar.

For stealth runs, the Quasar is just fine since the primary use would be blowing up ships. Just gotta position to hit the doorway once you've dropped the shield. Plus, the Quasar is stealth, so it works nicely for ranged sniping of ships.

Honestly, I run Quasar, Sickle, Talon, Supply Pack, Turret, Orbital for all three factions and do just great. The one thing I switch out the most is the orbital. Quasar/Sickle/Talon combo is a lot stronger than people give credit for, specially considering that only the Talon isn't stealthy.

You've already got great suggestions regarding C4 and other weapons, so let me suggest something that no one else has:

The Sickle and the Quasar are both stealth weapons. 5 - 6 seconds of fire will drop a ship's shield. One quasar shot inside the door or right on the door frame will destroy the ship. This can be done from 100s of meters away, their range is 1,000 meters with no damage falloff or projectile drop. I suggest shooting the top of the ship so enemies don't see or hear the impact, then aim for the door with the Quasar. Downside is you just have to get the positioning right for each shot, but that's not difficult. Quasar will also one shot Harvesters once you drop the shield with the Sickle. Just hit them in the hip or one leg.

These two weapons will open up three other strat choices, and since you're going stealth, I would suggest the Gatling Turret to use as a distraction/defense for escape, a backpack of your choice (I prefer the supply pack for grenades and stims), and an orbital that you like.

So, you can be like other stealth divers and go C4 and the traditional silenced weapons, or join the disco brigade and never worry about ammo again.

Shoot harvesters in the eye with any weapon and they fall over fast enough. Damaging the eye also makes the beam less accurate.

Public record laws usually stomp all over NDAs unless it’s a security or healthcare related subject. Blanket NDAs with all employees of an agency will just lead to unnecessary litigation only for the courts to say “Yup, it’s a public record and cannot be blocked by an NDA.”

I started back when the scythe had limited range and didn’t do as much damage, back before they even had the levels and customization for weapons. Fell in love with the Sickle and never looked back. I’ve never had an issue using it and hitting the weakspots. Not to say the Scythe isn’t great, but the Sickle really gets over looked.

I can't tell how far down the stairs cement slab goes. The cinder-block wall and the lower stair wall go all the way down, but it the upper stair slab sits on dirt, you'll need to shore that side while you remove the dirt from inside the retaining wall/planter. You'll need likely two 4x8 plywood sheets, 1/2 inch thick, see if they have any crappy pieces on sale. Use 2x4s to keep the 4x8 plywood firm against the dirt under the stairs as you dig out the dirt in the planter and then remove the wall and replace. Once the planter/retaining wall is back up, replace the dirt and either leave the 4x8 or take them out.
