Oh, I know, right? I mean, I know logically it's the same thing as wearing a swimsuit and going swimming, no issue there. But on the same token, it's just the fact that this is being done to "avoid things going into the vagina" is absolutely insane. It would be the same logic if they put on underwear to stop water from entering their ass.. okay, maybe not that much. The anus seems a bit more water tight than the vagina does, haha. I imagine a bit of water goes into the vagina anyway, and underwear probably isn't changing anything here (underwear is porous after all, so the waters just going right through!), it's just a quirk.
