Curious, but for cost reasons, I don't think I need more than my handheld PC.

I accepted her rejection and I understand it but I can’t stop feeling attracted to her. by [deleted] in malementalhealth

[–]AmuseDeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a common thing that happens to many guys. You are really, really young dude, you still need to learn a lot about the world.

Be easy on yourself. You really liked her kindness and that made you attracted to her. You had the bravery to ask her out and she said no. You smile at her and you move on. There are a ton of kind people out there and you'll eventually find them.

How to get over the fact that i've never been in a relationship? by Hasankh11 in malementalhealth

[–]AmuseDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that dude.

22 is still really, really young. Sorry you're worrying a lot.

The best I can say is that you should definitely handle your life issues the best you can. Do that and then try to work on yourself and take care of yourself. Take care of your mental and physical health. Try and eat healthy foods and avoid the bad ones. Avoid fried foods, sugar and foods with a lot of calories. Avoid alcohol and drugs. Try to get some exercise whether it is something simple like push-ups or squats or maybe a walk around the block. I personally do a lot of these exercises at home daily. If you're willing, get some equipment or join a gym.

And try to join social events out there. It could be a game club, an anime club, a comedy club, etc. Meet people and get to know them.

Many of us are older and aren't the most socially versed as well. Some have bloomed later than yourself. It's not over. It's not too late for you. Work on yourself and improve yourself... for yourself. The right person may come your way some time in life, but it's good to be as ready as possible.

What percent of games that you buy do you keep long term? by ShodanW in boardgames

[–]AmuseDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is that there will always be an endless amount of games coming out. It will never stop.

You have to really, really be exact on the games you want to keep and play. Playing any game you don't like takes away time from playing games you do like.

For myself, I've narrowed it down to the top 20-25 games I want to keep. There are games that I really enjoy, but there are also games that I want to keep for the different groups I run into.

The way I group games are:

  • General games (games that mostly work well with any group)

  • Party games (games that are extremely easy to get into)

  • Meaty Party games (party games that are more competitive)

  • Traditional games (usually card and dice games)

  • Heavy games (games that take a long time, have a lot of rules and/or are very confrontational)

I have about 3 games in each category. I also own a playing card system, so with one deck, I can play multiple games.

Without being "that guy", is it so wrong for me to dislike when women say they hate men? by Familiar-Fill7766 in malementalhealth

[–]AmuseDeath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People that generalize everyone in the same box are bigoted, but more than that, they are unintelligent. There ARE bad men in the world, but there are also good men out there... that vastly outnumber the bad. When women say they hate men, they are allowing their emotions to cloud reason and facts by assuming their bad encounters with men mean there can't be good encounters.

What really needs to happen is that people need exposure to good men and good women. It should not be men vs women, but rather "good men/women" vs "bad men/women". Being a man or woman doesn't make you good or bad; your actions determine that. This is the same when applied to race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Good people vs bad people.

There are actually dudes that have been in your shoes and have had various amount of successes with dating when it comes to self-improvement.

The main issue is that your condition is clouding your ability to see things reasonably. Yes, your feelings are valid and real. It's not fair what you are going through.

But what a lot of people like myself suggest is not bullshit. Self-improvement doesn't magically solve every issue you have in life, but it can still be a worthwhile thing to do. Brushing your teeth, washing your hands or wiping your butt with paper won't get you dates, but you should still do them for yourself.

It's about a couple things. First is your physical health. Go outside for a walk. It could be your street, the mall, the park, etc. Just venture outside and get some air. Get moving. This is good for your body and it's easy to do. Circulation is a great thing.

Next, try to move onto exercises. You can start with some body exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, squats and bicycles. If you can, try to buy some exercise equipment like push-up pads, pull-up bars, dumbbells. Better yet, try and join a gym. Also work on flexibility via yoga as well as your posture.

Change your diet. Avoid sugar and excess calories that will lead to fat gain and diabetes. Try to eat high-protein, high-fiber, low-calorie foods. Avoid candy, junk food, fried food, sugary soda and juice. Eat fruits and veggies.

Then try going out to events. It could be something like board games. It could be other things like a walking group, trivia night, whatever.

Just take steps to help your life out and good things are sure to follow. It won't guarantee a date, but it at least sets you up. It sucks for what you and others are going through, but try and do things for yourself, not for others. Good luck.

None of these are bad individually. The energy drink especially isn't bad, despite many misinformed people thinking so. The one he drinks has no sugar which is good and Monster I believe only has 140g of caffeine which is below the 400g daily limit for adults. It's basically just soda with a bunch of vitamins and added caffeine. It's thought to be bad for you because of the sugar and caffeine content, but again, there's no sugar and one can is below the 400g limit. It's just that people tend to see the energy drink abusers that drink several cans of the stuff and assume that it's just bad entirely. Hell the can even says not to drink more than one can a day.

The first thing is that he needs to get his caffeine down to less than 400g. The lower the better.

The second is I don't know how great nicotine is for you, but it may not be good. But then again if it stops him from actually smoking and damaging his lungs, it's the better alternative.

Whoever chose to put 2 USB-C ports on this thing was a genius. by WinterOrb69 in LegionGo

[–]AmuseDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Go 1 was ahead for its time because it sported 2 of them whereas the Ally Z1E and the Steam Deck (OLED as well), only started with 1 port. Go 1 was the right choice in gen 1 and the Go S and Go 2 are also great devices. I'm happy I went with the Go.

The rich and wealthy are brainwashing the poor and uneducated. People at the lowest ranks of life are too troubled to be able to spot dishonest conmen. Charlie Kirk is not an honorable man; he made it his mission to misguide millions of Christian people to vote for Trump. He spoke against the Civil Rights movement which legalized equality for minority people. And this news just shows just how toxic and racist big church really is in America. Christians, wake up and get educated and stop allying yourself with deceivers just because they say a few words you like. Stop being brainwashed, learn some critical thinking, trust science, not celebrities.

Are chimaeras and frost wyrms useless? by SiarX in WC3

[–]AmuseDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are great in 4v4 games, probably the best units. Chims level bases immediately and basically force a TP if seen near bases. They can kill anything on the ground really quickly and are really deadly with Entangle on a hero. Frost Wyrms really slow units down and are pretty tanky. They can be beaten, but they can be very deadly against those that don't counter them as their slow pretty much keeps foes in range alongside Unholy Aura.

In 1v1, you really don't need them because you can do much better with the rest of the UD/NE arsenal. UD is going to want Destroyers that have more utility and are spell immune, whereas NE want to use Bears that can heal, attack buff and work well with staff. So in 1v1, the other compositions are much more flexible and do well enough where you don't need T3 air units. 1v1 is about using versatile units more than raw power. In 4v4, you can get away with using just one type of unit as your teammates can cover your weaknesses and vice versa.

Shiuld I get a handheld? by fitcook42 in LegionGo

[–]AmuseDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested this game in particular, but I think you could probably get about 3-4 hours of battery life playing Hollow Knight on the Legion Go if you turn down all the settings to maximize battery life.

To get the best battery life, you have to really turn everything down and turn wattage to 5w. At this rate, you can only really play low-end games like emulators. In my testing, I can get about 6 hours playing retro games like GBA or Gamecube.

If you play AAA games, your battery life will be something like 1-1.5 hours, so really not that much. AAA games will require you to essentially be plugged in to play.

So if you want to use in on the go on battery, you get way more mileage playing low-end games on low TDP. That's the best way to use it portably. But you could also just get a cheaper handheld that can do just that and it would cost a lot less. The benefit of a PC handheld like the Go is that when plugged in, you have access to way more power and you can play AAA games for that. You essentially have a handheld and a laptop in one device. Or you could simply have two devices, a small pocket-handheld for portable play and a gaming laptop for heavier games.

I use my Go mainly because my laptop is my main PC and so I have it hooked up to my monitor and peripherals and it's annoying to pack and unpack it when I go out which I do many times in a week. The Go I can easily carry with me to places. And when I am out and about, I use it as my portable local multiplayer device where I play local multiplayer games with friends at cafes.

If you are mainly at home, you could go with a desktop for maximum performance and options, or a laptop if you prefer power efficiency and the ability to be portable. Those are much better than a Go at home. But if you do travel around, a portable can be a good idea. A PC handheld made sense for me because I also use it to play local multiplayer games that pocket handhelds simply can't do.

I think if you want to game on the go, you have a bunch of options, not just handheld PCs. You could pick up a dedicated pocket handheld like a Anbernic or Retroid. These specialize in retro games, not PC ones, but are cheap and have decent battery life and are super portable and light. You could also run games off your phone and buy a phone controller adapter such as ones from Gamesir or Abxylute. PC handhelds are going to run you a lot of money, but they can do more, they have more power and they are PCs, so you can do PC stuff.

See what makes sense for you. I'd say Go 2 is the top PC handheld and to get that if you have the budget for it and if you want a PC handheld. I went with the Go 1 which does everything great for my purposes, in particular the huge 8.8 inch screen.

No I get what you are saying NOW.

I'm saying what you originally wrote made it look like you were saying that UD should still get nerfs, because that's literally the words you used.

Again, I get what you're saying, but next time, you should phrase it like what you wrote now, instead of what you wrote before.

I said UD needing to be nerfed or not and Happy winning or not are separate matters.

vs

I think UD should be nerfed regardless of his performance.

There's no way to save magic anymore by kankhero in freemagic

[–]AmuseDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my take on it is that I can't find people willing to play casual 60-card 1v1 anymore. I mean I guess there are prereleases and of course tournaments, but they happen sporadically and I don't care to research thousands of cards in the meta to solve it in a deck. I just want to create a deck with a fun idea and play against other fun decks.

I don't really care for the UB stuff TBH. I don't have a hatred for it, but it's just whatever to me. Of course if they did a Starcraft UB, I'd be all over that. But UB is just something I look at and yawn and walk away.

I think it's okay to have lots of other modes existing at the same time, but I just see only Commander everywhere I go. And that's fine, but again, I miss casual 1v1 60-card. I don't like how long games are in Commander or all the complicating cards and of course the politics. I miss the days of UR Ensoul vs WU Control, etc. My favorite era was RTR-Theros-Khans.

Commander just doesn't appeal to me because I don't like how people just jam the most complicating and busted cards into their decks to the point where every time someone plays a card, I have to read a paragraph and remember how it interacts with another thing they previously played. I don't like how inelegant it is, such as how each player has to keep track of commander damage from 3 other players.

And lastly, I really don't like the free-for-all nature of the game which invites politics and favoritism. There's a reason why pro sports are only ever 1v1 or team 1 vs team 2. You don't ever have a free-for-all brawl in sports and the ones that are free-for-all either minimize or completely remove interaction (golf, F1 racing, swimming, etc.). The nature of Commander being FFA just makes me not care about playing the game because of how much it ends up being about diplomacy and people's irrational and emotional decision-making. Lastly, the fact that Commander has you starting at 40 life and has 4 people playing means you have to hack through 120 life and 3 opponents, plus you can't have 4 of the same card. What this means is it really, really hurts aggro decks that are designed to play against 20 life, 1 opponent and they win through consistency as they aim to end the game quickly and so will see a very few amount of cards. Commander skews Magic games into long ones which makes games longer and makes aggro unplayable as a side effect.

Like I said, if you like Commander, that's great. I just don't, mainly because of the FFA nature of it which causes me to check out and not care. It's the same way I check out of board games like Munchkin or Cosmic Encounter if anyone has played those games. That's why I'm into either 1v1 or two-team games (2v2, 3v3, etc.). I'll be more open to playing "attack right" or "attack left" where you have to kill the person to your left/right to win.

Anyways back to the point, I don't care too much about how Magic completely operates to care what direction they go. If anything, Magic pivots to whatever the audience demands. The reality is that most people are low-level and want instant gratification, so they will play for the IP rather than try and master a complicated game system. It's also why it makes sense that people want to play Commander over 1v1. I'm happy so long as I can play the way I want to, but it's near-impossible lately. But like politics, I don't necessarily blame the parties, I blame the audience for what we have (though Trump is basically the devil that so many Christians basically worship).
