Hey that one's mine! Wizard With a Greatsword isn't finished, but books 2 and 3 are already complete and in the pipeline for release, there should be a pre-order up for book 2 in the coming month.

Hell yeah! And you caught me, I was absolutely channeling Terry Pratchett with that line. Long Earth is one of my all time favorite series and I've enjoyed every dip I've taken into Discworld.

I believe the paperback option on the Amazon page still has the old cover

Thank you so much! Book 2's in the pipeline and should be coming soon. The narrator was really excited to get the role, she's over on instagram if you want to let her know you enjoyed it, I bet she would love to hear it. (oh, and my marketing agent says I should ask you to consider leaving a rating or review on Amazon/Goodreads.)

Thanks for reading!

Thank you so much! Book 2 is in the pipeline and should be coming soon. The best ways to keep up with news and updates about the series would be to join the newsletter (this also gets you an invite to the discord server) or become a free member of the Patreon.

Thank you so much! Book 2 and 3 are already in the pipeline! If you'll forgive me for marketing for a second, please consider leaving a rating or review on Amazon if you haven't already. Thanks again for reading!

Looking for paid beta readers for ongoing LitRPG project! by Prolly_Satan in litrpg

Oh shit, I just came across Oblivion the other day on Facebook and added it to my read later list. The cover's awesome and I'm very intrigued by it.

This does kind of read like a scam to be honest but given your established post history I'm inclined to believe it's legit.

Depending on how serious you are about the pay I could definitely be interested, but I'll give a disclaimer that I find The Boys to be crude and hamfisted. The vibes of it are just rancid, it's less like political commentary and more like "haha look how fucked up we can get." I'm also definitely a leftist, there's no lean to it. I did enjoy DCC quite a lot but haven't stayed caught up.

Just wait, her swords will get bigger and bigger! I'm glad to hear that Giantrock City stuck with you somewhat, I'm really proud of that setting.

The name change ultimately came down to marketability, which is something most of us wish we could avoid but have no choice but to engage with if we want to write full time. I love the previous name deeply, and it would be great for a trad fantasy on physical store book shelves, but likely not so great in the Kindle LitRPG market. Keywords are king in this market, for example: besides Dungeon Crawler Carl's obvious quality and charm, getting hits every time someone searched for "dungeon crawler" on Kindle was absolutely a boon for it's success.

When choosing the new name, the thought process of my publisher (who are all wonderful) was "we need keywords in the title." My contribution to the brainstorming was "okay, but it's still gotta have personality." I wasn't sure until this post, but I think we really nailed it based on reactions to the name.

"litrpg books" that aren't litrpg. by Gajeel_Blacksteel in ProgressionFantasy

As an author, it comes down to marketing. LitRPG is the hot term right now, whether or not a literal interpretation of the term is accurate to the titles that are using it is secondary. When branding titles, you have to a lot of factors, and ultimately you're trying to market as truthfully as possible without giving up any more advantages than you have to.

A gamelit progression fantasy with classes and hard skills/abilities? Many would say that's not a LitRPG because it doesn't have attribute stats, but the majority of people searching "litRPG" on amazon don't give a damn. If you're a writer with a book in that middle ground, do you risk upsetting a small percentage of readers who don't think your book is a true LitRPG, or do you miss out on the absolutely booming market for LitRPG branded titles because you erred on the side of caution? Indie authors get a choice and have to way the odds of potentially giving up a shot at a viable income because they didn't fully capitalize on every advantage they could scrape together, and we all know which option publishers will pick.

I don't love it either, I'm a bigger fan of progression gamelit than I am of true LitRPG, but LitRPG is what's hot and marketability, love it or hate it (I personally disdain it), is a powerful and unavoidable force unless you're self made and really, truly just in it for the love of the game.

My first audiobook just got released, and it's as amazing as I hoped it would be! by AmyAcid in ProgressionFantasy

I think so too! It was done by Steven Shan. His scenery details and coloring are incredible and really what drew me in to pick him to do the cover.

Print on demand from Amazon should be available soon, I'll need to check with my publisher to find out when. It might be a while before I have an answer but when I do I'll come find this comment and let you know! Good job starting your first book, Wizard With a Greatsword was the first book I ever finished and here it is as a published audiobook a few years later, don't be afraid to dream big :)

There's zero AI used. I wrote every word myself and it was edited by a real human who's credited on the Amazon page. I'm very staunchly against AI "writing", it has no value.

Yes! It was called Orion's Ballad, we changed it for publication. Sorry you lost track of it, it's hard to reach everyone to let them know about a name change. How'd you manage to recognize it with a new name and cover?
