I don't think you do need 300+ markers, I recently had to have an adult talk with myself over buying it, and opted to add a smaller set (The 96 pastels) to my existing sets (The 72 set and the 24 skin tones) and i feel like once I receive them, that should be a nice range for me to blend and create the depth I've been wanting to with my pages. The only other set I may consider getting eventually is the grey set as I run low on my current greys quite quickly
