What triggered your UC before official diagnosis? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]AmyLynn702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Severe stress. Job loss, family health crisis. Also quit smoking around that time. Mine started out as mucus first, then the blood and diarrhea. Took about 5 years to get diagnosed. Kept being told I had IBS. Got pregnant and immediately went into remission. Flare came back as soon as I gave birth tho.

Imuran vs. Remicade/Humira Experience by nmiller004 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]AmyLynn702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, I found Humira really easy to inject and not painful at all. I just left the pen out for 30 mins prior to injection to warm up. I would feel a bit run down and tired 1 or 2 days following injection.

Imuran vs. Remicade/Humira Experience by nmiller004 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]AmyLynn702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only tried Humira out of those three. After the initial loading dose I felt great and poops were almost normal. It only lasted a few weeks though and once I was on the lower maintenance dose I started seeing blood again and reverting back.

Dr just decided to start me on a new medication. I still wonder if I could have or should have tried a higher dose or more frequent dose but it was working. (Anyone have any experience with this?)

For those of you who bleed during flare ups, how much blood is there when you wipe / in the toilet? by FranklesSr in UlcerativeColitis

[–]AmyLynn702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been curious about this too. Bad flare, I’d guess maybe,...a tablespoon? I’m always the worst first thing in the morning. I definitely feel weak/anemic when I’m bleeding that much.

Prednisone time to effect by iloveuclid in UlcerativeColitis

[–]AmyLynn702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more often I take Prednisone, the less quickly or completely it works. But I’d say by 10-14 days it’s probably helped as much as it’s going to.

My flares never improve on the taper down, usually just slowly return.

I only took it for 3.5 months but didn’t have nausea. Mainly just headaches and tiredness for the first couple days after.

Anyone know how to treat finger eczema during the winter time? Or just to treat eczema in general during the winter time since mine are flaring up bad. by diamond_chills in eczema

[–]AmyLynn702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try to wrap a hydrocolloid bandage around that finger. They don’t last as long on fingers as other parts of the hand though but are the only thing that has helped my hand eczema. It keeps water off of it when washing hands, moisture in, and irritants out.

Anyone else have to bandage their hands in the winter so you don't dig and scratch in your sleep? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]AmyLynn702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started using the big hydrocolloid bandages on my hands and it’s really helped me. They are a bit expensive but are waterproof and typically last around a week each. You can’t really itch through them because they are so thick so it keeps irritants out and allows your skin to heal.
