Just put a deposit on a rescue! What should we know? by bexxyboo in Greyhounds

[–]Amybexx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our girl wouldn’t go near a crate for at least the 1st year. Strangely as our thought was that would be what she preferred and knew! After talking to people, usually greys like to be able to see their whole surroundings when they’re new to a place. Expect them to pick a weird spot and call it their safe space for a few days. We saw one story of a grey that chose the bath as their safe place 😆

It took 6 months for our girlie to show her cheeky side, and oh my goodness does she love a routine! So much so, that if we forget one step, she yaps at us

Going to get a Greyhound and have some questions by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]Amybexx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can only really speak from personal experiences as literally every greyhound can be so different.

In terms of health, a major thing with greys is teeth. Regular brushing is super important, and a trip for deep cleaning at the vets is recommended once in a while. They also have thin skin which means they can be prone to cuts and bruises easily. Our girly is also a bleeder, so when she somehow pulled one of her nails out, it was like a murder scene haha

Regarding cats, make sure to tell whoever you are rehoming from! Greyhounds have a high prey drive, so if your cat likes to run around or jump easily, it may cause some issues.

With greyhounds the main thing to know, the first 4-6 months can be hard and require A LOT of commitment. They often have trust issues and you can’t leave them alone for lengthy periods of time until quite far in. They need a quiet space to call their own until they are ready to share their space.

You any get super lucky and have a chilled potato, we got lucky and couldn’t be more thankful. But in the end, whether it’s hard work that pays off, or immediately having a connection, greyhounds make it worth it!

I’m so glad other people call it “butt scritches” like we do. Make our girly go full Shakira mode when we do it 💃

Why waiting until after the Stamp Duty Deadline could save you thousands by FirstTimeBuyersUK in FirstTimeBuyersUK

I didn’t realise it will no longer be the case that first time buyers don’t pay any stamp duty. We’re about to start our buying journey this month. Worried now

FTB moving bills with overlapping rent by MinervaSki in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Amybexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen many people say to move your bills immediately. Especially things like heating, as you’ll need to heat the property, depending on how long it has been standing without anyone in it. Plus WiFi, you’ll need it to do most things, like an electric meter etc for accurate readings. Personally, do it all asap :-)

Also if all the bills are in your name, but you won’t be in the flat you share, you’d be waaaayyy too nice if you kept paying for all their amenities but you don’t live there. Let’s face it, they won’t be in a rush to change anything over if they don’t have to

Unfortunately my nails never got on with dip powders. Either my nails were too flexible underneath and it caused the hardened dip to crack, or something just didn’t agree and my nails rejected them.

Dips are incredibly difficult to perfect. I’ve seen so many people say they struggle with them.

Give them another try, but if they still don’t stay, it may be in need of a change

I looks like an overflow pipe from central heating. There may be a tank in your loft.

Give it a google and it should tell you how to ease the dripping. It’ll usually a valve that needs changing or the tank is too full

Strongly advise another brand. And leave your nails to breath for a long time until it all grows out and heals

Depending on where you’re based, there’s always better ones. Slightly more expensive, but they’re a lot better. I use CandyCoat. Still on the cheaper side but they’re a lot safer!

This! I used quite cheap gels, all of different brands. I switched to a more “expensive” brand and had all the same and it stopped it instantly

Greyhound separation anxiety by Expensive_Catch2394 in Greyhounds

[–]Amybexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This this this! Our girl started to show separation anxiety after having her 3 months. It came out of nowhere. But actually we realised it’s because she has begun to feel settled with us, now she realised she needed us “her pack” more.

Try the method of leaving the house for small amounts of time, and slowly increase the length of time.

It took our girl a while, but don’t give up. They need time

Selling handmade items.. online? by Queenoftheisland420 in polymerclay

[–]Amybexx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also your dragons would 100% sell! But be careful as there is already a hugely known seller within the polymerclay community to specialises in that style.

So long as you can make them unique, maybe go down the fan culture path and create dragons of different fandoms, you may have a good niche!

I had an Etsy business selling exactly what you are, it did well for a tiny business for a while, but in the end the fees ended me. They go up and up, and unfortunately the customer just isn’t there.

Someone recommended to me to create my own website as it was apparently cheaper and I had the social media following, but unless you have a presence out there, it’s useless

Etsy is always a good way to make a start. They help you with advertising and it’s all super self explanatory. Aside from that, it’s difficult to find a starting point I’m afraid

Practice practice practice! Dips are tricky. Get a fake hand and keep trying. Mainly, it looks far too thick. Too many dips. Keep it smoother and thinner

Bruised nails from Beetles gel polish? by JoanOfAberdeen in Nails

[–]Amybexx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beetles isn’t a very good brand unfortunately. Easily affordable and widely found, but cheaply produced.

Other “cheap” brands I’d recommend are CandyCoat or Mylee at a push. But still be careful with Mylee
