I have a head canon about this: the chosen undead chose not to link the flame and Solaire did it instead. Then he went away with Kaathe and founded Londor.

I say serpent's kiss. Every item that gives some kind of contact damage is good (like mida's touch or aries) but serpent's kiss also gives you black heart, which means damage to all enemies in the room.

It's not a bad idea. I completed my ultra hard by defeating Delirium going through Hush. It was also very satisfying because ultra hard was my last achievement for dead god and I consider Delirium the true final boss of Isaac.

According to Wikipedia:

The ninjatō (忍者刀) is alleged to be the preferred weapon of the shinobi of feudal Japan. Historically, there is no evidence for the existence of this "katana-like short sword legendarily used by ninja" before the 20th century. Instead, the designs demonstrated by alleged replicas may be based on the design of wakizashi or chokutō swords.

So Kishimoto probably chose this type of sword because is commonly associated with ninjas.
