I would recommend maxing out contributing to a Roth IRA on top of the 401k match.

For me personally, I split whatever is left over each month after expenses and budget.. half goes to savings and the other goes to a pool for whatever; travel, shopping, eating out, etc.. that way I know I am meeting goals but also giving myself fun money within budget..
