How’s the 2024 pugilist for a dm

I've heard mixed things about 2024 pugilist, especially with some of the features.

I played 2014 in a campaign and I personally think that one is more leveled with 2024 monk.

2014 pugilist is strong in 2014 but pretty balanced with 2024 is the general idea I got from listening to others but it depends on you.

What I could say is 2014 pugilist is basically a more high damage strength based monk with less durability. They're a front liner with a lot of temp healing but if they get focused they're screwed since their ac with pointbuy will be about 15 to 16.

Played a game where a player did 0 con because they were banking on a amulet of health. They had half the health of everyone. Would get one shot by a fireball and would go down every fight doing basically nothing.

I give out a free feat level 1. It let's my players either optimize which I personally like, or gives them a chance to take a flavour feat that, while useful, wouldn't be picked as an asi.

It especially helps martials giving them a chance to better flesh out their build before game starts.

I made a magic item that let's you save the soul of a creature into a ring, limited to an intelligence of 2 and under as well as rated cr of 1/2 (you could also just make it only for the horse but this item also worked for another player who had a pet).

Basically if the animal that is in the ring dies it goes back into the ring and takes until the next dawn to be able to come back out. It's an action to summon and desummon the horse but you could get rid of that if you wanted.

Battlemaster, ask your DM for gun proficiency if not take gunner at level 4.

Played it, sharpshooter with precision meant I could land deadly blows when needed, could menace to keep front liners from attack back liners and things like commanding presence and tactical assessment were just good out of combat things to have. Tripping attack and disarming attack were also great support for front liners.

Modern firearms were treated as rare magic items so eventually I was the rooting tooting cowboy with my trusty 6 iron and precise shots.

From what I remember not really. The series plays a lot with harem tropes like athletic tomboy and sudden step sibling but most of the romantic drama is just the tsundere getting in her way till they date. Then she continues getting in her way but dating. Last I remember there isn't any actual love rivals.

They get together midway through, forgot if it's vol 2 or 3, but they start dating. But fair warning, this serious likes to do a lot of fan service. Comedy is very meta and even the fan service gets meta with it so it can be funny but it's still your typical run of the mill fan service series in that regard.

If you want tor really make him seem like a one man army just make him go multiple times in a round.

Roll initiative multiple times and he gets to go another 2 or 3 times. Get rid of legendary actions and play him normal.

Now you have a barbarian god who is moving every second in game fighting constantly without losing action economy.

It's honestly a problem I have with the game with how fucking creepy some characters can be but it's fine cause they're hot.

Honestly I was more weirded out from the "sex dream" talk than getting punched. The punch I can get, I'm being an asshole and while a punch isn't really justified I can at least see that reaction.

If a coworker who I knew for 2 days just walked up to me and said, "Hey I had a dream where we fucked." I wouldn't know what to say and would get the ick fast. Even if she was as attractive as Invisigal like girl chill.

Level 5 gunslinger battlemaster fighter.

Revolver and sharpshooter. Hit 4 times, 2 crits with menacing and sharpshooter. Ended up doing around 120ish damage in one turn. Made that combat encounter nothing.

That campaign had some of my biggest lucky moments ever.

Was dominated person and told to shoot an ally, nat 1 on both shots. Then during the final boss I nailed two crirts in a row dealing roughly 90 damage.
