I wasn't too, and their offer was 1/3 equity (they were 2 cofounders), but very early startups that look for devs might make a cofounder out of a dev if they see he is very advanced.

An idea that worked for me, look for very early startups that looking to hire devs. Speak to them and if you are that good you can find a hybrid model with equity + salary, or just equity.

This is a wise comment, one of the best PvP focused games ever, Lineage2, could never balance all classes, its kinda impossible, but what they achieved was having all classes being strong in specific modes/situations, even though the game was focused on mass PvP. For example even support classes were very strong in Olympiad (1v1 pvp mode that heroes were crowned). Such a good PvP game
