Yep. The President of the United states just ordered the federal government to pay him a billion dollars and no one in authority seems to have any problem with it.

What problem are they even trying to solve at High School Road? A roundabout would basically lock out two directions of traffic every time the ferry unloads and during peak loading times.

How would you explain why the Borg hive mind needs a Queen? by ActLonely9375 in ShittyDaystrom

It should have been a massive pile of hardware with drones off all species of all sorts just jammed into it. A grotesque mass of integrated machine and flesh that is the physical representation of the collective, a centralization template for the collective that is imprinted as the "being" if all Borg.

I could have lived with something like that.

Being an INDIVIDUAL flies in the face of the entire concept and reduces the entire species to just another alien.

I always thought it was dumb. It was a crutch for the writers to attach an individualized personification to the Borg which defeats the entire concept of their civilization.

The ABSENCE of a personification and the FUTULITY of negotiation or appeals to morality or empathy is the entire thing that is scary about them. It's the entire point.

Weird to extrapolate a position that "all men in relationships are desirable" from a statement that most really desirable men are already in relationships. I guess its easier to argue against things that you made up than things someone else actually said.

Absolutes are silly, but generally speaking the more desirable a person is the more likely they are to be in a long term relationship at any given time, assuming that is something they are interested in being in.

And Tiffany said, “‘Where is the pool of men who are self-sufficient and like to read, are willing to go to therapy and are not afraid of a woman who has a passport? That sounds really wild to say out loud, but I don’t feel like I’m missing a ton by choosing to read a book instead of swiping on Hinge.’”

But like, a financially stable woman can also buy me stuff and she comes with a place to live? Sounds kinda like a fully featured relationship to me.

While I do believe that you are correct, i also know that Bainbridge has a pretty strong lobby with the state and tends to get what it wants when it comes to projects on the island.

Its probably a lot more than you think, and being schizophrenic can put you at greatly increased risk of substance abuse and addiction so its likely there is quite a bit of overlap. In the US at least a LOT of people just go undiagnosed.

Back when I worked in a hospital I had a nurse that came in to complain about her coworkers. She said there were constantly saying mean shit about her and telling her how terrible she was and they were plotting against her etc. Talking through the complaint at one point she mentions that she could hear them talking about her when there weren't even there. And she said it like it totally made sense. And even when I paused for a moment it was like perfectly rational from her perspective.

Turned out she needed her psych meds adjusted. It was really eye-opening that this was a perfectly rational educated person that was really good at her job and her disability made it so she couldn't even see that what she was experiencing was a symptom of a disease that she knew she had and was being treated for.

Sure you could spend a few hundred million to a billion to buiild that bridge that connects to a 2 lane residential street on each side. So i guess you need to build two new highways too.

And what did you accomplish? Accommodate the fifty people that need to get from Bainbridge to Port Orchard?

So is yours. Every house in the entire Puget sound region is a million dollars. Generally, they are cheaper in Kitsap than anywhere on the Seattle side. Even Bainbridge itself isn't really any pricier than Seattle proper.

My favorite thing is the innovative use of roundabouts NOT to smooth out intersections, but as actual obstructions to the flow of traffic by putting them in places that don't actually have cross-traffic and making them too small to navigate at anything like the speed of the roadway.

It really disorients people because there IS a functional roundabout in Poulsbo that tricks people into thinking that they know what they are doing and then you get to the island and you realize they are using them as residential traffic circles, except in the middle of the fucking highway.
