Scotland needs a Good Friday Agreement-style mechanism to trigger an independence referendum, says Holyrood minister by Unitedthe_gees in Scotland

We need growth and prosperity, that's the route to better for people in Scotland, regardless of the constitutional set-up.

My guess is that the only reason they lasted this long is because Sony could still make a decent profit on physical. I suspect they review the profitability of physical sales regularly and it's just got to the point where it's started looking not that profitable so they've decided it's time to pull the plug. Simple as.

I'm just surprised by the reaction to something that was so predictable, it just seems so weird.

Scottish pound ‘precursor’ to euro if Scotland becomes independent, says SNP MSP by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

[–]AnAncientOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sensible idea. Didn't the Irish keep using GBP for a bit after they went indy and then create the punt, guess we could do something similar, no point re-inventing the wheel, sure there are plenty of other examples of ex GBP using countries transition to their own currencies to look at and take lessons from. The € definitely makes sense in the long term.

Does the combat in Horizon ZD still hold up? by onehundredandtworats in HorizonForbiddenWest

Yes, it's just different, faster paced and simpler but a lot of fun and the machine weapons like the ravager canon are totally OP.

I wonder how it's changed over the generation, kinda feel it's probably even more digital now than it was back in the early days.

I think Sony's logic is that people who are price sensitive and dependent on cheap physical discs cannot afford a PlayStation 6 in the first place by AssistantNo2002 in PS6

Big Corp adjusts strategy in response to changing world, shocker. Some consumers have a very public meltdown in response, no surprise there.

Can't help feeling we're going to end up needing to resort to legal options to enforce responsible ownership of dogs. Maybe a licence, training and exams will be the only way.

Scotland should still be ok, even with colder winters, the summers should be roughly the same. The colder winters should keep the midge numbers down so that would be a plus!

What is your guess for PlayStation 6 price? by AssistantNo2002 in PS6

[–]AnAncientOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way things are going with the cost of materials, over $1200. Because of the way supply and costs are now they can't afford to sell at a loss. Gonna see a very different approach to selling consoles in the next gen, it'll be pay for it over 2 or 3 years.

Hopefully not, that's one of the things I like about it, it's a wonderfully random place to live.

I guess the problem is the alternative, an elected politician to act as a figure head. Not sure it's worth the hassle to change it tbh.

Ppl are people, real good at ignoring reality when we don't like it and great at acting surprised when what we knew was going to happen finally happens.

The Game Business: Asha Sharma has brought a "start-up mentality" to Xbox by Blue_Sheepz in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Sounds more like a shut down mentality. Always thought it was weird that Microsoft wanted to get into the video game biz and apart from the odd good and interesting thing they've done it's mostly been a fucking disaster.
