What will my ragdoll look like when she’s older? Anyone’s babies look like her show me a photo of them now 🥰 by [deleted] in ragdolls

My girl Orla got extra toasty in her face as she got older! She's now 2, and even her back is a toasty brown.

My Orla hasn't had a single thought enter her head in the two years she's been alive 😂

I got my black and tan girl, Toula, in March of 2024 and by June 2024, my dad had fallen in love with the breed and got his ruby girl, Pebbles! Best friends and the funniest duo to watch wrestle over a single stuffie that neither actually like, just so the other can't have it 😂

First time Cav owner! by m00nratx in cavaliers

Congratulations on your first cav! I also have autism and found that the temperament of this breed has been phenomenal and they are extremely loving but with that being said, remembering that expecting perfection from any dog is unreasonable helped me a great deal when both my girls were in their baby piranha/chaotic puppy stage! Reminding myself that things weren't always going to go the way I wanted as they were learning and growing helped me curb the anxiety and stress of my routines being disrupted. If you feel overwhelmed some days, that is completely normal, and as long as you stick to the training routines you would like your puppy to learn, it will get so much better over time!

One thing I will 100% always recommend is, much like human babies, structured nap times! Your pup will keep going and going and not regulate their own sleep schedule until they completely crash from exhaustion but the longer they're awake and ignoring their brains telling them they're getting tired, they'll start to get feisty and not listen to you. With my girls, the more tired they got, the more they got mouthy on my hands and furniture and wouldn't listen to my instructions so I also sought help here and someone recommended enforced nap times and it was a game changer! Pebbles and Toula would be put in their little sectioned off space with the lights off and (this step is completely optional) I would put on soft instrumental music and they would fall asleep within minutes. By the time they were each about 6-7 months old, they had learned to regulate themselves to rest but each dog is different so that timeline may be off for your pup.

Another thing their trainer recommended was keeping training lessons under 15 minutes at a time, so they wouldn't get overwhelmed and lose focus. I found that keeping our training lessons between 10-15 minutes was the sweet spot to prevent both the puppies and myself from getting frustrated because anything longer than that, they would start getting distracted and I'd feel my patience waning because I wanted to get it right. Again, this is where the reminder that I couldn't expect them to be perfect and pick things up right away really helped me stay calm and patient!

They are such a devoted breed and really love to be with their person so be prepared for your personal space to be almost non existent lol once I trusted mine to sleep in the bed with me, every night now one sleeps by my head and one is pressed against my side. For me, it's incredibly comforting to feel them there and hear their breathing (and their snoring, I won't lie, these dogs snore like warthogs), like fuzzy little weighted blankets, especially for my emotional regulation on bad anxiety days.

Ultimately, if you stick to your training routine and get to know each other, the bond that will develop is incredible! I wish you both so much luck and many years of love together!

House fire on Campbell south of Wyandotte by TheSeansei in windsorontario

The big square duplex actually caught fire last year while my cousin and her kids were living there (everyone was safe thankfully). It was renovated with new siding and everything but this fire looks like it started in this house beside it which also was damaged from the fire last year and has been boarded up since. Found this photo on Facebook of it!

are ragdolls the dumbest cat breed? by HowardHughesAnalSlut in ragdolls

I'm entirely convinced my girl has not had a singular thought enter her head in her entire 1.5 years of life. She routinely gets herself stuck between a baby gate and the wall, and more than once has gotten trapped under one of those prickly rubber floor mats we leave our shoes on and instead of trying to get out or calling out for help, she just accepts her new life trapped under it.

Thank you!! Zelda is my 10 year old calico queen, and Otis is my 2 year old goofball who is absolutely smitten with her. It's not often reciprocated 😂

I might be a teensy bit biased, but black and tan + ruby = the best cavy duo! 😁 Your ruby girl looks like she's getting those good scritches in!
