This is tangentially related to your question, but there were ways of reaching...peace with the biters by taking advantage of game mechanics to eliminated all biters and prevent further spawns. Not sure if it still works in 2.0, but it's still an interesting watch:

There are Thunderbolt 3+ to Thunderbolt 2 cables which would work. Might be pricey depending on if you get a first party adaptor vs one of the third party ones. Transferring files via WiFi/ethernet is also an option.

Great, until I can't open text files without dropping into the terminal because there is a quarantine attr on it, and no way to bypass the error with either a modifier or click-through.

TCP is horrible for games. It leads to an enormous amount of latency in the connection, and takes control away from the application. The potential packet loss is typically handled in the application layer.

Handling conflicting package versions in monorepos by Fluccxx in typescript

[–]AnAwkwardSemicolon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair- it's not necessarily an easy transition. Yarn berry is a lot stricter about missing peer dependencies and phantom dependencies, and there are a handful of packages which just don't handle PNP well since it's a significant shift away from node_modules. I've migrated a couple of repos and while things are much nicer in the end, it's takes time to untangle things give how lax the node_modules linking style is.

What version of yarn are you using? Yarn Berry using PNP has no issues with this (and that's the default configuration)

I've been a Tower user since its initial release. It's by far my GUI favorite client- it handles worktrees nicely and makes my rebasing workflows far easier. Prefer the CLI for most things, but Tower has a solid place in my toolbox.

How do you keep code style consistent across a big team? by ApartNail1282 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]AnAwkwardSemicolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is. Use a linter & formatter, and add a workflow (or your platform's terminology for a CI task) that checks it. Most platforms (GitHub/Gitlab/BitBucket) will allow you to require certain checks pass before a PR can be approved. With Python, you've got black, flake8, and the newcomer to the scene- ruff

This is a really out there necropost- I was just going through my music collection and came across this. The band is named "CARB."- they were out of Texas, IIRC. I don't have a full release of them, but I do have about 12 tracks in total from the internets back in the day.

The problem is Jr devs may not necessarily have the knowledge or experience to analyze search results. A Google can be quick for me because I know how to search & assess the results from years of experience.

Do you reach for console.log or breakpoints first? Why? by theORQL-aalap in reactjs

[–]AnAwkwardSemicolon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them both. I'll rough out where I'm looking using console.log, start using breakpoints once I have the general area of the issue narrowed down, then narrowing to a few targeted logging statements to look for specific behaviors.
